Al's No. 1 Italian Beef: User Reviews
Al's No. 1 Italian Beef
1079 W. Taylor St. - Chicago312-226-4017
It's definately not dynamite, but worth trying if you're craving some italian beef. I always buy it by the pound (cold), take it home, and prepare it myself, which is the best way if you are feeding several people. At $22 for 1lb beef, bread, and peppers, it's a little pricy, but that'll feed 3 people. Been here 3 times.

This is one of the best beef and italian sausage around town. The quality never wavers. The fries are homemade and absolutely delicious. I never pass by an opportunity to eat at Al's, you shouldn't either.

Al's has the best italian beef in Chicagoland. Get your beef with giardineria on it. They have good fries too. The franchised Al's are good also(but not quite). Yes, a meal is going to cost you ten dollars. Live a little.

Too expensive! A big beef, fries and a drink and your looking at +$8-9 dollars for fast food? There are usually more employees than customers, with the majority just standing there instead of working, which might explain the cost.
The beef is good, by no means a "stand-out."
Report This Review#1 is a strectch. The people were great. It made up for the food. This is a place to go when you are in need of some food not when you are looking for a good beef.
Report This ReviewBest beef in town!
Report This ReviewThis place is not even close to being in the top ten places for Beef. The homemade hot peppers is amongst the worst I have ever had. Ordered the large beef which is regular at other beef houses. I will not go back.
Report This ReviewI love Al's beef. I like it better than Mr. Beefs. They have the best homemade beef and hot peppers around. It' gotta be the taylor street locaction though, the others aren't as good.
Report This ReviewI can't believe Al's No. 1 Beef didn't make your Top 10 list of best Beef Houses....
If you haven't been to this Taylor St. gem your missing out. It was featured on Food Network's City Food as a Chicago staple food! Order yours "dipped" and you'll get it so soggy wet it's sickning (in good way). I suggest a hot dog on the side, then cross the street and get you and your honey some real home made Italian Ice....you gotta love Chicago.
