The team from A Mano's upstairs neighbor, Bin 36, is also behind this casual, contemporary River North trattoria offering Italian salumi and cheeses, antipasti, wood-fired pizzas and a tightly edited menu of reasonably priced pastas and entrees (nearly everything is less than $20). Expect rustic pasta dishes such as lasagna Bolognese, spaghetti and meatballs, and garganelli with wild boar ragu, raisins and pine nuts. Entrees include whole-roasted fish and rotisserie chicken. For dessert, don't miss the gelato--chef John Caputo honed his skills at Chicago's Carpigiani's Frozen Dessert University, and a top-of-the-line gelato machine kicks out the silky stuff. The bar pour wines by the glass and carafe, including several Bin 36-exclusive house wines; the cocktail list features several playfully named concoctions (The Insurance Claim, The Flood, Warped Floor) that debuted after a burst pipe forced the restaurant to close briefly in early 2009. The interior is rustic, with wood floors, an open floor plan and low ceilings that can make for a noisy night out. A Mano translates to "by hand," so it's only appropriate that there's also an open kitchen allowing you to watch the chefs work.
