We went to this place a few weeks ago a group of 7 people due to the recommendations/reviews.
We were very disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. They forgot to add side-dishes to two of the entrees as it was stated on the menu. The curry chicken was soupy with a couple small pieces of chicken (mostly bones)
The only good points were BYOB, cheap but not even for this I would recommend it or return :(

Finally...a decent Indonesian restaurant in Chicago! For years, all we had was greasy Chinese Indonesian that bore no resemblance to what is actually eaten by most Indonesians. Here, the tastes are what one would get in Indonesia (with a few exceptions--see below).
The chicken sate is just what one would get in Sulawesi, as is the delicious coto Makassar (minus the stomach innards that you'd get if you were eating it in Sulawesi). The gado-gado (veggies in peanut sauce) is great, too. And the krupuk (shrimp crackers) were perfectly friend and delicious. The only disappointments were the tahu isui (tofu stuffed with bean sprouts and other things--not enough stuffing and too much tofu) and the yellow rice, which was nowhere near as yellow and tumeric seasoned as in Indonesia (the server told me that they'd adjusted it for American tastes, which tend to prefer milder seasonings...but I was hoping for something more robust and was disappointed with that dish). Otherwise, this is a wonderful restaurant and I will be going back (I've been twoce alreadu).

The food at Angin Mamiri is enak...wonderful! I had a sampling of my favorite Indonesian dishes and was very pleased with everything. It was authentic and expertly prepared. The only concession to American tastes was that the heat was toned down. But there was plenty of ABC Chilli Sauce at the table and they will bring you all the sambal you could want. If you have lived in Indonesia and want to relive that experience or are just curious, there is a dish for you at this restaraunt.
I especially recommend the martabak and the sate kambing. The pisang goreng is a perfect finish to the meal.
The employees are friendly and quick to smile like Indonesians, the world over. You owe it to yourself to maked this a regular stop for dinner. I plan to dine here every time I am in Chicago...which will not be often enough now.
