Although Raj Darbar has only been at this location since February of 1997, this polished Indian restaurant has served the Lincoln Park area for over five years. Their large menu features nearly 40 entrees--including many typical curry and rice dishes as well as traditional favorites like Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandoori Chicken. The kitchen ventures into some unique territory however, preparing rack of lamb, quail, and stuffed bell peppers in their clay ovens. "We have some dishes that you'd never find in other Indian restaurants," says manager Venkata Razella. The mostly white dining room is smartly accented with numerous wooden screens, Indian paintings and lovely silk flowers. Waiters dressed in traditional garb serve the clientele. The added ambience will cost you--the food is a bit pricier than other Indian restaurants in the area (meat entrees start at $10.95). For a bargain, stop by on Saturday or Sunday afternoon when there's an all you can eat brunch ($6.95) that features 20 different entrees, appetizers, salads, and desserts.
