Bhabi's Kitchen, the homey family-run eatery just south of bustling Devon Avenue, more than doubled in size mid-summer of 2005 by taking over the storefront just south of the original tiny location (there now is seating for about 60). Starter choices include Indian classics, and specialties like shami kabab, fried beef patties with roasted spices and lentil. Entree include chicken charga--whole chicken marinated and baked in the tandoor oven. Vegetarian specialties include sarsoo ka saag, a garlicy broccoli rabe sautéed with herbs and spices. The menu offers about 20 breads (made with six different flours), including a unique naan loaded with pistachio and mixed dry nuts.
