Via Gelato: User Reviews
Via Gelato

We went for lunch. Food was very ordinary, prices somewhat high. Some of the ice cream choices lacked much flavor. However, it's a fun, family-run business, and very popular for ice cream on hot days.

From the moment you walk in the door at Via Gelato the experience is amazing. It's decorated with a European flare and has friendly and sophiscated atmosphere. With a wide range of flavors to choose from you are sure to find a gelato that suits you! It's the most authentic tasting gelato I have had in Chicago. The other menu items are to die for as well. They make fresh soups and paninis that will make your mouth water and the desert crepes are absolutely delicious. I have been there several times and I always walk out satisfied!

This is by far my favorite gelato place in all of Chicago. Having lived in Italy for six months, I can tell you that Via Gelato's homemade gelato is the closest you can get to eating authentic gelato from Italy. Their sorbets are my favorite...I always get the Pomegranate and Lemon flavors together. I love that they have new flavors almost everyday. Even their food is great. Their tuscan panini is delicious and their salads are amazing as well. The owners are extremely nice and welcoming. The cafe's ambiant environment makes me feel like I'm back in Italy again. If you are in the area, definitely try this place out!

I work in the Glen, so I'm stuck having Glen food... all the time. It's the only place I have yet to get tired of, even though they have been here for over a year. The food is fantastic, and the owners are the sweetest people you could meet. When everything gets slow, we always toss one person outside to grab us some gelato, which is always lovely. I'll occasionally bribe someone to get me a crepe, which are absolutely phenominal, trumping some that I've had in France.
It's something to try out once, and I'm sure something you'll go back to again. =)

Met my mom for lunch at Via Gelato after a co-worker recommended it. My mom and I split a salad and a GIGANTIC Pannini. The Pannini was FANTASTIC!! The salad was also good and of course the gelato was incredible!! Great food, Good value and unbeatable service!

I have never had gelato before, but this place has made me addicted. With seasonal flavors, like pumpkin pie, there is always something new to try. My personal favorites are banana cream, which has real bananas, and apple pie, which has a whole apple pie in the batch of gelato. They also have great coffees, paninis and crepes. Anytime you go to the Glen, stop by Via Gelato for wonderful gelato in a beautifully decorated place.

We have been to many gelatrias in the Chicago area and other cities too (not to mention Italy). Via Gelato is one of the best you will find anywhere. The consistency is incredibly smooth and the flavors are amazing. The owners are passionate about their gelato and the sevice is more than friendly. This gelatria should not be missed!
