Great fries, mediocre polish

After reading a review and craving a good polish I drove 15 minutes to Susie's. The little shack is cute and I appreciate small places and expect some good to come out of them. I ordered two polishes (with only ketchup as I like my polishes) and a small order of fries. To my surprise it came to $8.50..which I consider a little pricey. I was handed a big bag however and was looking forward to getting home and having plenty of leftovers. The fries were really good; not too greasy and lightly salted. The polish was not at all special. In Chcago I'm used to being served a poppy seed bun with a red and slightly charred Polish. This Polish was probably boiled and the bun was the standard generic white bun. The polish was not large in any way and it took both to fill me up even though I have a small appetite. I'd recommend you go for the fries if you're in the area and peruse the lengthy and kind of confusing menu for more interesting options.

"Small number of seats inside,"...
By Drover from Chicago, IL, July 4, 2007

"Small number of seats inside," as the review reads, is quite an understatement. The interior has seating for exactly three patrons. Outdoor seating, weather permitting, seats approximately 12 more. This is an unrepentently old-school Chicago institution. The building probably has not been renovated since it opened in the 60s. Service is of the "what do you want, here you go now get outta here" variety. The inside smells like deep-fried heart attack, and some of their food creations are, well, weird. But they have a lot of creative dishes (such as a gyro-burger, basically a hamburger with gyro meat, onions, tomato and cucumber sauce) and cornpoles (like a corn dog only using a cheddar brat). The variety of dishes is astonishing so you're sure to find something to your liking.
