Hooray Le Sabre

First my only problems- 1) Le Sabre is NOT 24 HOURS. Go by there at some odd hours, always closed. when I first moved to Ravenswood several years ago I got the impression (via the advertising) that they were 24 hours and had some late nights there. More recently, past 2 years, whenever I got at an odd hour (sometimes as early as 11pm!) they are closed. I'm honestly not sure what their hours are.
2) Why does metromix list this as an ice cream place? Its a diner..through and through

That aside I love the older ladies who waitress there and the food is always yummy! Breakfast is ideal although I get the BLT a lot and love. Their specials that come with soup or coffee/orange juice included make me smile. Le Sabre is a favorite whenever I can figure out the hours :)

Don't expect more than your regular diner food. We recommend their breakfast skillets. The wait staff is extremely inattentive but this is largely due to staff shortages. Also note that this is a cash only restaurant but there is an ATM right outside the door, however it charges 2.50$ per withdrawl. The food is clearly inexpensive.

In response to the other reviews, I must have had a different experience with the wait staff. Also, I too recommend avoiding this place on a weekend morning.

One of the best diners in Chicago. The staff is so friendly, the food is good, service is prompt and the food is never cold. Love it! Lots of comfort food and good old-fashioned home cooked meals.

My FAVORITE breakfast and late-night joint. This place is a total dive, but a loveable one. The service is super friendly. The food is good, not great, but you don't go there on a diet. I must recommend the french toast and the real milkshakes. It can be a little crowded on the weekend mornings, but the wait is never too long. This place has many die-hard regulars. It's just the perfect little diner that's always open!

Not the worst diner, but...

Not the worst diner, but not the best either. Servers are typically efficient, although sometimes a little weird or mean. Last time I went I ordered egg beaters in my omelet and was sick to my stomach for a week. I don't know if it was the food, but I don't know how often they get request for egg beaters - this is a more dyed-in-the-wool cholesteral haven. And a passable one at that.
