one Saturday night i and my friends were in the restaurant. We guessed that we wait so much but it didn't. we sat down and ordered. several minutes later all of the foods were at the table. It was amazing. Of course foods are very delicious. The restaurant crowded but the atmosphere was very good.
I eat keftedes and it was excellent. I love to eat Mediterranean foods.

We chose this rest because of a review in the paper. I was not happy when we were seated in the kitchen area of the restaurant. It was horribly hot and seeing how they order and serve the food was very unappetizing. Yet we decided to concentrate on the food. My family of 4 ordered the 2nd family style menu because my teens are not in love with lamb.
The saganaki was much too salty. Now I know it is a salty cheese but all of us found it much too salty and left most of it.
They salad was good but would be better if the dressing was on the side. Too soggy. My feeling was it was prepared ahead and allowed to sit.
They gyros was great and liked by all. Had an authentic taste different from fast food.
Our chicken was the highlight of the meal. I liked the dolmades, my teens and hubby did not.
The dessert sampler was very good.
Would of probably given a higher ambiance rating if not seated at a table right by the counter where the food is prepared. Not a pretty sight. Maybe this had an effect on our overall enjoyment of the food.
Would not return when there are so many other wonderful restaurant choices for greek food.
My advice to Greek Islands, clost down the kitchen area for dining.

I just went to Greek Islands today with some out of town guests and it was a great Greek experience for them. The food is authentic and delicious, the service is fast and the waiters are very friendly, and the ambiance is great. Overall, a wonderful restaurant that isn't too expensive, great value.

I love this place! It's so great! I've been going back for a while, this winter it's been about 10 times already. The moment you enter the room it relly takes you to some Greek port. The people speak Greek (Which is such a good sign!) and the decor is outstanding. They have many rooms, and I have yet to sit in all of them. Every room looks special. Now the food. GREAT! I always get an appetizer (Saganaki if you want to start off a great meal with a BOOM! Or try anything, it's great, cold and hot appetizers!). The entrees...well, just get anything with lamb, you won't be disapointed. I always get the combined platters, but make sure you ask if it comes with rice and potato...one time I didn't and they "forgot", maybe my only complaint. I have yet to make it to the desserts which I hear are good. It's in a great spot on Greektown, for you get a great view of the city and the skyline on a good day. Great place to come with friends or to a romatntic date. Come to Greektown, it'll be a great experience!

We went there for New Years Eve and had a wonderful time because the staff from the hostess to the server were friendly and efficient. Our meal was nothing less than spectacular. The salad dressing on the greek salad was in perfect harmony with the greens, not overpowering. The saganaki was melted to perfection, crispy and not overly salty. Our greek chicken had crispy skin with juicy perfectly cooked meat inside. The tzatziki was perfect with the chicken. It was the perfect way to end 2007.

I visited this restaurant at 5:30pm on a Saturday evening. Including myself, my party consisted of four people. While the food was awesome (seriously!!!), the service was not. I do not enjoy being hovered over, grinned at and repeatedly forced to move my hands and food away from my mouth for the wait staff to pour one more drop of water in my full glass. Attentive, kind of.... annoying, very. On top of it all, the place was not full (I saw many empty tables), yet my party and I were seated at the closest possible spot to the kitchen. Oh, and I'm forgetting to mention we're a group of 25-year-olds. I don't need a wait staff that HOVERS and STARES at people while they are eating. And, just because a group of younger-looking adults goes into the restaurant does not mean we aren't going to tip or order appropriately. We were placed at the nastiest table with a waiter who smirked when we simply wanted water. Leave the breadcrumbs and my party alone, it felt like a circus.
Thank you.

If I were to recommend ONE restaurant in Greektown to please everyone, this is it. Couples, families, tourists, whatever- it all works here. Food might be half a notch down from Santorini, but it is still DELICIOUS all around and a great value. (skip the octopus, however...tried it twice and was mushy both times. Everything else is consistently fantastic) Daily specials are a highlight, as is the wine. The bar is fun and roomy, and the waiters are SO friendly and accommodating. My husband and I ate here for the first time after a trip to Greece, and the food is about as authentic as you can get! Side note- their olive oil is AMAZING (Greek is so much fruitier than Italian), and I loved that you could buy a bottle to take home!
