I'm so happy artopolis exists, i can rarely find bakeries with such vast variety of cakes, cookies, tarts and they're all delicious!! my favorite is the greek dessert yogurt honey&walnut, also love the strawberry shortcake here.its amazing. the coffees and lattes are great as well. i've been going here fo the past 5 years every sunday with my girlfriends and i still love it. the food is also good from spanakopitas, artopitas, salads, pizzas to moussakas and lamb, its well priced and tasty! love it!

I had higher expectations for this restaurant.

This place was terrible.
The food was cold when it arrived at the table.
The waitress was incredibly rude.

I went there at 9:20 PM on Sunday with a friend. There were a decent amount of patrons dining. I was greeted by the host and seated immediately. When the server finally approached my table she appeared to be impatient, and urged us to order dinner with our drinks. We ordered the Mediterranean Fest and the Saganaki as appetizers. When the appetizers finally arrived 25 minutes later the Saganaki was cold and it tasted like rubber. I'm not a Greek food connoisseur, however I am very aware that Saganaki is supposed to be flaming cheese. I wasn't upset that they didn't do the full presentation at the table, I just wanted hot cheese. For an entree we shared the Jambon and Kasseri Artopita with the pasta salad. When it arrived it was room temperature. I would have sent it back, but the server was AWOL. When she returned to our table I politely informed her about my dissatisfaction with the quality of food and the service. Her only reply was "O.K." That struck me off guard, I was expecting an apologize. If you do end up going to Artopolis I would recommend having a cup of coffee or a pastry. The environment is quite charming, but there are other fabulous Greek restaurants the area that have exceptional food and service.

my favorite cafe

I love their food here! You can't go wrong with anything. I love the traditional lemon soup, meditterranean salad, all the artopitas and sandwiches. The desserts are excellent too. My only issue is that service is rather slow (I know it's Greek, but it is definitely not Europe here) and the iced tea - they charge for a second glass. (which ends up being a surprise on the bill when you see about $6 for tea). I'll just stick with water.

A Favorite Spot

While attending UIC, Artopolis was one of my favorite spots in Greektown. I try to go back when I visit the city. A cozy atmosphere and delicious food. The pizza is great and the french fries are to die for. Don't miss the beautiful desserts.

YUM

Their desserts are so yummyyyyyyyy!
We got:
Mango Yogurt Mouse - light and fluffy and not overpowering with a slightly tart accent to the sweetness of the mango
Sour Cherry Ice Cream - French vanilla ice cream with a sour cherry syup; I don't even like cherries but it was delicious. And it was a LOT
Chocolate Raspberry Cake - Very rich - almost overpowering, but the ice cream was a good compliment. You should be a true fan of dark, thick chocolate if you're going to order this.

Way above average!

I ordered from here based on the reviews off this website and I was not disappointed at all. They were much better than I expected. The portions are very generous and their delivery service and lunch supplies were fabulous. Not to mention their cordinator Maria was very friendly and helpful. We ordered lunch for 30 people and had enough to feed 10 more. Pricing, service, food, quality, portions...everything great!

The atmosphere is just a...

The atmosphere is just a little different. We were expecting a full greek type menu and it's not really. It's got lots of neat sandwiches, pizzas, and baked goods, but not a full menu of pastitio, moussaka, etc. (they DO have those but they only offer them as specials.) Nonetheless, the food is really top notch. We had melanzana appetizer, chicken riganatti, and spanikopita. Appetizer, spinach pie, and side veggies were all outstanding. Chicken was a little over-cooked but they did the spices on it really well. The desserts in their bakery are, well, stunning. We took home a dark chocolate mousse and walnut tart. They were heavenly. It's very casual so don't make it a night-on-the-town place, but we really enjoyed it and will go back without a doubt.

The only way to make this place even better would be to offer a great brunch menu. And to offer pommes frites for lunch (currently it's not until after 2pm for some reason!). Great atmosphere, great food....offer Saturday/Sunday brunch and it would take the long lines across the street from Meli!

Great experience! My wife and I went there for something new. We had the best lasagna we had ever had. My greek friend commented "See? We make Italian food even better than the Italians!" and he was right. My wife has a strawberry martini and it was very tasty, yet a bit too strong. I had the Esspresso Martini and was very pleased. The atmosphere was very open and relaxed and the staff very very prompt and curteous.
