The name means rabbit house in Japanese, but just don't look for rabbit on the menu; the owners consulted a feng shui master who proclaimed Usagi Ya to be the best name for the space. The warm-hued space features two platform-style pillow-stuffed tea rooms and a 19-seat sushi bar where chefs produce about 30 sushi and sashimi choices, plus about 40 maki and special maki. These are priced by the piece for do-it-yourselfers; there are combo platters too. The menu also features a variety of pan-Asian cooked fare for the sushi-skittish--try the sesame-crusted chicken or the sweet-and-spicy mango shrimp and ask about additional off-the-menu specials.
