My friends and I love Kanok. I think that last review must have been written by somebody with bad sushi taste because this place is pretty good and the rolls are up to par with a lot of other well known places in the city. No, it's not as good as Coast, but it's a great place to go and get some good sushi at a reasonable price. Mexican Maki, Tropical Maki, Sweet Potato Maki are all delicious. Get the spicy scallop sashimi to spice things up a bit. Most of the maki are good, the tuna sashimi is fresh and tasty as well. I think it's better than Wakamono down the block.

Very disappointed with my sushi experience here. Overall the fish did not taste fresh. I ordered spicy tuna maki which tasted fishy, had cucumber & fish eggs (which is not the traditional way of making it) and a red hot sauce (similar to generic Red Hot) which was spicy but did not add the nice flavor you'd normally expect. I also got mexican maki which had far too much cilantro and the yellowfish was also doused in the red hot sauce, in substitution for jalapeno which was listed on the menu. The rolls were bland and not even worth finishing.
If you're looking for good sushi in Lakeview - Rise, though a bit pricey, never disappoints!!

The sushi was fresh and very tasty, but the service could have been better. Our waitress was all over the place...but never at our table, for some reason. We had to flag her down to get a menu, to order, and to get the check. Also we were seated by the door and when it's 5 degrees out, it's mighty cold. But I would definitely recommend it for the sushi. I'll probably get delivery next time.

My boyfriend and I stopped by for dinner and were quite impressed! The noodle bowls were amazing, the tropical maki was to die for, and the waitress was attentive. The food was very high quality, especially the sushi. WIll definitely be going back.

Our experience was the opposite of some of the other reviews...I found it to be better than when it was Ecce Cafe. The sashimi we had was excellent quality. And the diverse menu to allows mixing it up bit (Korean, Vietnamese ...)
Our service was quick and pleasant. And not at all hurried as often experienced in some other places during busy periods.

The best yellow curry in Lakeview. The lunch specials are a great deal.

Ditto with the last reviewer. We went there last night. I really enjoyed my sushi combo. Yum! Drinks and bento were good too. With the buses stopping by every 15-20 minutes the outside sitting was not so good. Although the people were nice they seem to be neglect things like utensils.

We love this place (we were already Ecce regulars)! It is friendly and stylish, the sushi and sashimi are so fresh that it melts in our mouth, we love their crab ragoon; many of their maki rolls are original (can't find them anywhere else!) and really amazing... so we go there all the time, specially in the summer with their outdoor sitting.

Ordered delivery from here this weekend. Good food, quick delivery. Edemame was a bit bland though -- tasted like the kind you buy frozen from Jewel. Other than that, would definately recommend.
