Old Town Brasserie : User Reviews
Great service! Attentive bartenders and they have a great new live jazz and sing-a-long songs guy there now on the weekends! Warm with a light swank! Cool vibe!

The people at the front door seem unhappy to be there. There are a lot of classic bistro choices and a lot of it is good but not as good as when it irst opened.

My husband and I are regulars at Old Town Brasserie because we love the food, staff, and the crowd. This restaurant is even more enjoyable when it's warm outside and with their outdoor seating. We took some great friends of ours last Saturday for dinner. We weren't sure if they would love it as much as we did. However, the whole dining experiences was fantastic! We had a drink at the bar and then sat down for dinner. We had appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There was nothing left on the plates!!! The pate, foie gras, asparagus soup, followed by duck, wagu beef, skate wing, and pork belly, and then finished with lemon tart and peanut butter dessert were all fantastic! But don't forget their outstanding souffles! Saturday night was a great evening out with our great friends!!!! I'm sure they will be back. And of course, we will!!!

First of all they don't feed you and rush you out the door. Why does food have to be like that? The food is delicious. it's classic with a modern twist. Refined, elegant, and yummy. I never wanted it to stop. The fois gras, if that is your thing, is brilliant. It has a crispy shell and when you bite into it melts in your mouth. The prices are very reasonable, considering how amazing the food is. It is unpretentious, welcoming and pleasant place to wine and dine your self and/or others. Very reasonable and delicious wines on the list too. This is like a hidden gem.

went there for my birthday 2 weeks ago, and although had been one of my favorites, was informed Roland had left and may not come back.
One comes to favorite restaurants for a reason--and when something like this happens, the new chef should not be so inflexable as the new one was that evening. Would not make the wonderful loster dish, would not make perigeux sauce for my meal, etc.
I know he is good, and wants to make his own mark, but that was not well received by us. The food was still good, but I didn not appreciate the inflexability, and quite franlkly missed what we came there for. Disappointed.

The new menu is awesome - new chef and new attitude all around in this great neighborhood spot! Liquid Filled Cauliflower Raviolis are great to share, the best Foie Gras in the city, the white bean soup is perfect for a cold night, Skate Wing with Lobster is the best Entree I have had in ages, my friend's Lamb was her favorite ever and she orders it everywhere in town! This place is perfect - great bar, great vibe, best food around!!!

I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant that after an hour had not seated me for reservations. We took a friend to her restaurant of choice and arrived for our 8:00 PM reservations. We were told our table was not quite ready yet so we sat at the bar. A party of two came and was seated within 5 minutes. Since we were a party of 3 we really didn't think much of it. At 8:30 we checked again and was told it would be soon. But when the 7 or so people who came in after us were seated and it was now 9 PM, we just ate at the bar. They never did call us for our reservation and while the bar server was gracious and the owner sent us free dessert, it was not enough to make up for the fact that we were basically forgotten about. I will never go back and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was tasty and the atmosphere and patrons very nice but it was not worth the wait.

The chef produces some of the best food in the city. The service is cordial. What do say of hospitality when the owner says to customers as they're leaving that the wine they sent back was not corked? What's to be gained from that, even if the customers were wrong? Among the three of us, there are private cellars valued well into six figures--not just your average noses and palates. And yours, Mr. Owner? No worries. We won't be returning, nor will any of the many friends who ask our opinions about where to dine in this vast city. Readers: please don't let the low rating for service lead you to think it's because of the servers!

I went there during the week with a friend for dinner and immediately felt not wanted or shunned by the maitre d and what appeared to be the owner. We weren't dressed casual, we were dressed nice but the clientèle tended to be older and we are both in our mid-twenties (not sure if that was the reason we felt not wanted). We spent the first five minutes waiting for service and wondering why we felt as if we did something wrong. As for the meal, I had the nectarine salad and salmon for an entrée, neither were great, just okay. Definitely not worth the price. I would not go back.

It is definetely a scene and be seen place- loud and filled with the trendy and nouveau riche but our waiter was great- steered me away from one fish to another (Halibut) as well as Lobster/Scallops dish. My husabnd loved the Oysters- as good as the ones we eat on Pacific NW coast. Desert was disappointing- we should have had more oysters. Might go back but there are equally good places with less decibals.
