Les Nomades: User Reviews
This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The food was excellent as was the service. It is very pricey but it was a treat to have a meal that was this good.
Report This ReviewI could not agree less with the previous reviews, everything was perfect from the moment we walked in the door. Food was delicious, service was attentive without being over-bearing, the room was cozy and the pacing just right.
Report This ReviewI agree with what previous reviewers said about the service. I've dined here before, and the food was as wonderful as always, but this was the first time that we had to wait a substantial length of time for a waiter to take our drink order and to give us our menus. That wouldn't have been so bad, but we were then rushed a bit for the rest of the dinner. Although we didn't necessarily linger too long over the food, the delays by the waitstaff at the beginning of the meal meant that we were (just barely) the last ones to leave the upstairs dining room. There were still customers dining downstairs, however. One of the waiters even remarked, as he handed us our check, that, with the icy weather, we might want to get on the road right away. At these prices, dinner just takes as long as it takes. Sorry, guys. I'd still go back for the food, though.
Report This ReviewWent for the advertised 3 course dinner(had to be seated by 5:30pm and we were). Waiter came to table and described the 4 course and 5 course options. When I asked about the 2 course option, he looked at his watch (in a dramatic manner) and said, "I guess you were seated before 5:30 so that is an option. I felt like I was being judged by the waiter. Meal came way too fast(next courses on the table next to ours waiting to be placed before us.), We were warned about portion size, but I was surprised to see my red snapper 2 inches by 1inch on a large plate. Finally, when we were leaving I gave the ticket to the valet and he gave me my keys and said "your car is across the street." On a wet and cold evening, we crossed the street got in our car and left nover to return again...sorry
Report This ReviewThe food was excellent but the service was very poor. The waiter was uninspiring and the courses were brought out way too fast. The 3rd course of the meal was brought out and placed on stands next to the table waiting to be served even though the second course was not complete. It was appalling. Definitely must improve the service.
The food was beautiful, five course prix fixe - inventive and pleasing. Excellent venison. Tiny portions like you'd expect at a restaurant like this yet somehow very filling. atmosphere - chilled.. much like a dry, dry martini, service - impeccable. value - the dinner was a sizeable chunk of rent money - not kidding. go if you want to impress a lady or if you have some money to burn. Dinner $300, wine $50 (half bottle) Dessert $20 coffee..cocktails, tip (which they automatically include)etc.. at the end total = $500 for two. Overall - just not worth it.
Report This ReviewThis is truly the best restaurant in the city! In a time when pretention rules, Les Nomades is a bastion of true quality cuisine, service and elegance. I have eaten at every major restaurant in this city and none are in Les Nomades' league. Service is right on target, food elegant and classic with a few risks. Wine list is smart and reasonable. My only criticism is that the room could use some minor sprucing up.
Report This ReviewI agree with some of the comments below - great room, tired menu. The food was not bad, it simply did not live up to the prices demanded, and I agree with the comment below about the poor breadbasked selection, never a good start to a meal. Desserts were well-executed and our service was fine. The kitchen could use a major overhaul and the wine list could use some freshening up as well. Too many other places in this city have raised their game to make this worthwhile until that happens.
Report This ReviewThe service is way, way too fast.
The bread selection is what you'd expect in a coffee shop.
My husband ordered a cheese course - it was presented with no description or names of the cheese.
The food was very good, but they need to improve in these areas.
I have traveled the world and have been to many fine dining restaurants in my age. I specifically will remember this experience. The service was impeccible. My waiter seem to be there exactly when I needed him to be and seemed to mysteriously fade into the atmosphere which lent itself to the most romantic evening. The food was sublime. The whole experience including the wine has been in my opinion the best value in the city of Chicago.
