I have been coming to Le Creperie for years. I first went there on a date - with my now husband. I learned the suggestion came from his parents who had gone to Le Creperie as their "date place" since it opened in the earlier 70s. The food is very good - not "fancy" but never dissapoints me. The ambiance is comfortable, neighborhood feel - with posters of France on the wall. The wait staff is friendly, but admitedly is not overly warm, which doesn't bother me but might not be a great fit with some people. The back patio is awesome in the summer.

Save your $$ folks. You're better off eating a pancake from IHOP and have 'em slap a can of Chicken Campbells soup inside and you have yourself a Coq au vin crepe from La Creperie. We waited over 1 hour for an order of 2 crepes, our waitress had a bad attitude and clearly hated her job. She was rude, never refilled our glasses of water, as a matter of fact the only other time we saw her again was she threw the bill on the table without asking if we wanted anything else. I am shocked this place has been around since '72..if they keep serving these horrible tasting wannabe Crepes and hire these rude waitress it won't survive another year....not in this economy. Go across the street and instead get yourself a tasty Jamba Juice drink.

My boyfriend and I frequent the area for shopping and movies and finally decided to stop on a Friday night. The place was packed and they said about an hour wait, but we could sit at the bar. The bar seats were mostly full and the space was pretty cramped. The ambiance was pretty romantic, but a tad too dark. The tables were very close to each other, in effort to maximize space. The wine selections were awesome and the descriptions were accurate. The wait was much less than an hour. The bartenders and waiters were less than friendly and slow to take our order. The french onion soup was the best either of us had ever had, which says a lot! There was so much gooey cheese on the bottom of the bowl, as well as the crouton and the broth was rich, not watery. We both ordered dinner crepes, which were just average, sort of a let down after the wine and soup. We are definitely going back for the dessert crepes though and some more wine! The outdoor patio looks like it would be nice in the warmer months too.

I have been going here for years and I am never disappointed. The first thing you have to consider when you go here is that these are not IHOP crepes. A traditional Breton crepe is supposed to be crisp...not so much the pancake-type one we are used to. I suggest you compliment your crepe with the cider as that is the way the French experience crepes. My fiancé and I always order one savory crepe each and we split a dessert crepe. If you are a bit more hungry, I suggest trying their soups as I belive they are made on site (if not, they sure taste like it). We will be going back to this place for years to come!

My boyfriend and I stopped by for crepes last weekend and were really disappointed. The crepes were overcooked and submerged in rum. The bananas were overripe and the ice cream looked as if it had come straight from a box. To make matters worse, the waiter did not bat an eyelash over our utter disappointment.

Over-all the atmosphere is charming, but that's about it. Service was friendly, but not so prompt. Coffee was good. We had a breakfast crepe and a sweet crepe. They weren't the best, most flavorful crepes I've ever had. I would, however, STRONGLY recommend going to the Crepe & Coffee Palace a few blocks down the street (south) at 2433 N. Clark instead. Down the list the crepes/experience is better: atmosphere, variety, food, service!
Report This ReviewLa Creperie was a huge disappointment. Went there last week after seeing a film at the Century. We had the worst service possible. It looked like there was only one waitress working. It took her forever to come over to our table and on one came by to fill our water glasses or ask if we wanted more wine. By the way, the wine was not good. We had a chicken crepe and a beef crepe. The crepes were dry and the sauces tasted like salty Campbell's soup. Beware, if you are hungry, the portions are very tiny, so this is not a cheap dinner. For dessert we ordered banana nutella crepes which were tasty, although the crepes were dry, and we ordered coffee which our waitress never came by to refill.
Report This ReviewUnbelievable... I never thought crepes could be this good. This place is legit.
Report This ReviewWhen I have a craving for casual French fare, this is the place that comes to mind. What I love most is the relaxed unpretentious atmosphere. The food is a great value, and the service is friendly.
Report This ReviewWent on Valentine's Day and it was great! I ordered the steak & frites which were excellent! My dessert crepe was wonderful too! Excellent wine and service and we'll be back!
