Kiki's Bistro: User Reviews

My fiancé took me here for my birthday last Friday. We had a string of bad restaurant experiences which stopped at Kiki's. We spent last summer together in France and I had asked the waiter if he didn't mind if I spoke french with him...he was more than happy to do so. The wine selection was vast and well priced. I had the poulet roti and it was excellent. My fiancé chose the steak frites and he said it rivaled that in France (where he grew up). The food is just plain comforting, but that's what you expect from a french bistro. I was surprised by the service. Usually you are rushed out of a rest. and quickly taken from one course to another. Our watier did not hover around our table, but somehow new exactly when we needed him. We were able to savor our dinner and truely enjoy the experience of dining out. We will be there again soon!

When in doubt of where to go for a nice dinner, go to Kiki's Bistro. Consistently good food, ambiance, wine selection, service, and always free valet parking. They are not the most modern/ creative when it comes to their menu, but go classic and you'll never go wrong. I come here knowing what I'm going to get ( steak frites or roasted chicken, mussels,) and I always, always get the same quality of food and service each time.

My girlfriend and I went to Kiki's on Friday 2/22/08 to try out the restaurant week menu. The duck was quite good (sides were better than the duck) and the french onion soup was lovely. However, we waited a full 45 minutes between our soup and our main course. The wait for the desert was not bad, but without any after desert lingering we were there for over 2 1/2 hours. While this delay could be attributable to it being Friday night, other later and larger groups were served and left before us. I had heard great things about Kiki's, but I do not think that we will be returning.

We went to Kiki's on the first night of restaurant week to check out the 31.95 prix fixe dinner, but came away disappointed. There were three available entrees to choose from: lamb, duck and salmon, all in preparations that were not on the regular menu - which perhaps should have been a warning sign. I ordered the salmon, which was poached and smothered in hollaindaise sauce. It was mediocre at best, overcooked and quite bland, as if prepared far in advance and had been sitting in a steam tray. My date had the lamb, which arrived as kabobs over couscous. Again a bit dry, but more problematic, it was not French. As Kiki's purports to be a bistro, this was inexplicable. More to the point, if you as a restauranteur are participating in the restraurant week promotion, it would behoove you to showcase your cuisine and not foist off over-warmed, water-downed, off-menu presentations that in discourage repeat visits. For what it's worth.

We enjoyed our visit to Kiki's. The food was delicious and a great value. We had several drinks, two entrees, two appetizers, coffees and a dessert for less than $100. The restaurant is very charming but be aware that seating is a tight squeeze. Recommended!

I couldn't be happier that my husband and I chose Kiki's Bistro to celebrate my birthday and have a romantic dinner just for the two of us. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, festive enough for the Holiday Season, but not over the top. The service was prompt and impeccable. We savored some excellent wines that complimented our superb food. My husband truly enjoyed his escargot, and my pate was creamy and silky. We had halibut and lamb as our dinner entrees, and both were outstanding. So were our dessert choices. I would come back in a heartbeat, and have been recommending this restaurant to all my friends. My only regret is that we have not discovered Kiki's sooner.

Great food. Shrimp appetizer w/smoky tomato base sauce was amazing. The chocolate mousse dessert is the creamiest delight that melts in your mouth. Plenty of wines by the glass. Service was outstanding. Strongly recommend reservations as the place was hopping on the Thursday we dined. Also love the "free valet parking".

My first time was with my girlfriend on Bastille Day, and they said they were sold out, but to try later in the evening. We were happy we did. The French Onion Soup was great and her steak frites was awesome with the herbed butter. I had the rack of lamb, which was good, but I'd go with the steak or roasted chicken next time. The Creme Brulee, with the chocolate on the bottom, was the best we've ever had. I cant want to try the chocolate mousse! Atmosphere is awesome, and the live French singers are a nice touch.
