Instead of retiring, Chef Gene Dionne and wife Betty decided to turn their former Dionne's French Country Restaurant, a Momence mainstay since 1980, into a combination art gallery and restaurant in 2003. Gene does all the cooking, Betty produces the for-sale art that graces the walls, and son Matt serves as baker and maitre d'. The menu is French country, and features a selection of four different entrees each Saturday. Diners may order from the regular a la carte menu or opt for the four-course, prix fixe menu. The menu changes frequently, but might include choices like the crab meat souffle with red pepper coulis as an appetizer, and roast leg of lamb with a green peppercorn sauce and potatoes Provencal as an entree. The signature dessert is bread pudding with raisins and Southern Comfort sauce. A full bar and wine list are available.
