Isla Pilipina
- Neighborhood: Lincoln Square

- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
This simple Lincoln Square Filipino spot, which the owner calls “the world’s smallest restaurant,” feels oceans away from Chicago. We doubt it’s the smallest—the dining room seats about 28—but it is awfully quaint, with bright white tablecloths and napkins folded to resemble flowers. The authentic Filipino menu offers the basics, including chicken adobo and pancit dishes, as well as some Spanish-inspired additions such as paella and deep-fried pork belly. Mongo, a stew of mung beans, shrimp, tomatoes and watercress, is a good option if you’re looking to branch out. Isla Pilipina is BYOB and most entrees are less than $10.
