My co-worker's brother-in-law threw a surprise birthday party yesterday evening for his dad;It all worked out great. The party was originally for 30 people but grew to about 50 people. The restaurant staff did a great job orchestrating everything, from the ambience (they played the right music at the right time, had the lighting scheme right), plus most of all, the buffet totally rocked! 2 of the guests from CA were very impressed, too. Also heard that the party before us,which originally had 120 people, grew to 150 people -they were all smiles when they were leaving, too.

A friend and I hit the Filipiniana buffet yesterday for dinner (Sunday, March 29th); It was my first time doing so; The buffet was outstanding! There were 10 entrees including crispy pata, pancit bihon, lechon paksiw, kare-kare, some awesome catfish dish, crispy lumpia egg rolls, their own kind of fried chicken, and oh man, I can't remember the rest...I was totally stuffed and almost went blind from all the awesome food. There were also 3 different kinds of dessert. My friend and I also received prompt and courteous service, too.I'm definitely coming back here; In fact, I was able to persuade a friend of mine to have his dad's birthday party here this coming weekend. There's also a 120-person party happening this weekend. too. Plus I heard from one of the owners that The White House's Head Chef (who is a Filipina) had dinner here about 2 weeks ago!

I've been dining here for the past 4 to 5 years. Having been born in the Philippines, myself, this restaurant's food is very authentic; I get homesick every time I eat here. It is usually packed with tons of Filipino diners -so that in itself is a testament to the authenticity and high-quality of the food. It's also clean here; The menu is huge and offers a ton of options. The service here is great. I did not experience the slow service that other diners have, so that is surprising to me. Their servers also take the time to explain and advise on the best entrees new-comers should try out. If you are a vegetarian, I'm afraid our food is not cut out for such clientele.I think of our food as the Soul Food of Southeast Asia-- it is hearty, full of flavor and filling, but I doubt it will ever be turned into any sort of NutriSystem or WeightWatchers Meal, so Valerie Bertinelli - Beware; Kirstie Allie, come on down.

The Chicagoland area definitely needs a place like this. The atmosphere is great and food even better. Highly recommended!!!
Report This ReviewGood atmosphere to take guest to. No other filipino restaurant in Chicago I would invite friends who are non-filipino. Lots of choices. Love the adobo express, sinigang and pork adobo. Go on Sunday for buffet to have more options. Pricey I think but definitely a good try.
