A variety of European flavors converge at this Bucktown restaurant and lounge. The first-time restaurateurs behind the place are Polish, so many of the dishes are based on European staples, but they all get a contemporary spin. The menu features soups, salads and sections of "bites" and "bigger bites," most designed for sharing. Highlights include a beet cream soup with crispy ginger, orange zest and scallions; cabbage cakes with a spicy, Spanish-influenced sauce; and peppers, mushrooms and spinach on a bed of buckwheat with grilled sausage. Weekend brunch brings some unusual options, including eggs over-easy with caviar, scrambled eggs with spicy shrimp and pumpernickel, and blueberry blintzes with white chocolate and lavender. At the bar you'll find Polish beer on tap plus a selection of bottled imports, as well as European wines from the likes of lesser-known regions in Georgia and Hungary (as well as more recognizable bottles from France, Spain and Italy). The sleek, modern space houses a mix of table and low-slung lounge seating. There's more of a cafe vibe by day; evenings bring regular DJ appearances and acoustic nights.
