After having a cafe cubano here and reading the great food reviews I decided to give the food a try. What a mistake. There are no Cuban cooks in the kitchen; the food is a Mexican interpretation of Cuban food!!! I ordered the highly recommend Cuban chicken sandwich, it didn't com pressed like rational sandwiches and was topped with iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato, I also ordered fried green plantains with mojo and the waiter tried to hand me salsa verde instead of mojo=garlic sauce. The plantain slices were too thick and the mojo was bitter and missing garlic, it had long thin onion slices instead. GROSS. The cashier is also the server and was swamped with customers, so don't expect great service. Go buy a Cuban cookbook or to Cuba because this place is only good for a cafe cubano or groceries!

Peruvian's delight

My dad is Peruvian and loves cooking Peruvian dishes. We were so excited when we went to La Unica and discovered all of our favourites. From the Inca Cola to the Peruvian key chains, I love it all! It reminds me of being back with my family and friends. I've recommended this place to all my friends that love cooking. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

best cuban food in the city

i've been to cuba. i've been to miami. and i would have to say this is the best cuban food i've had outside of cuba. habana libre and cafe laguardia do give it a run for its money, however, you can't beat the price. I would strongly suggest getting the chicken breast, fried steak, cuban sandwich and if they have it, ropa vieja. yes, it is in the back of a supermarket, but it is truly amazing food!
