Cafe LaGuardia West

My date and I visited Cafe LaGuardia yesterday (Sunday, Aug. 30th) and what a terrible experience it was!!! First despite the fact that it was virtually empty, the service was extremely slow. And, most importantly, the food once it arrived was totally tasteless. I had the red snapper dish and my date had the chicken breast. Both were absolutely without taste. Needless to say I will never return and I would advise everyone to stay away!!!!!

My wife and I had dinner this evening at 'West", and evrything was fantastic. Our waiter suggested the Cuban "nachos' for an appetizer, and they were awesome! We both had the oxtail for dinner, and it was fantastic. The ropa vieja is also some of the best I've ever had.

I've been going to Cafe Laguardia since the Armitage location opened and it's absolutely delicious. I've never had a problem with their service, if anything they treated me as an old friend. I now live in NW Indiana and I will still visit either locations and recommend it to others! Not only that but the prices are very reasonable. You have to try the Cuban Nachos!!!

I went to Cafe Laguardia West a few days ago and I gotta say that I am the worse food critic. Cafe Laguardia West was an exceptional experience. The food was outstanding the service was to die for. I was treated like a God. Denise Laguardia gave our experience that added touch of flare that just sent us home on cloud nine. This is BY FAR one of Chicago's best kept secrets by far.
Report This ReviewI went to Cafe Laguardia West for my birthday this past weekend. Best birthday ever I must say. Everything from the service to the food was absolutely amazing. My server treated our table as if she has known us for years. The food was to die for!! They then suprised me with the cutest dessert with colored sprinkles all over it and sang to me. It was great, I felt like a kid all over again.. The staff is so super friendly and social. Its one of those places that I will never stop going to. I already feel like I'm part of the Laguardia family. By the way, it was my first time there.
Report This ReviewMy girlfriends and I were gathering to celebrate three of our birthday's. I did read the reviews on the service but was hoping nine months passing, sevice had improved.I arrived fourth out of six in my group and it took twenty minutes afterwards til a waitress appeared. When she did get our drink orders it then took an addition 15 to get them. We placed our food orders, and then quickly reordered another round of drinks, knowing how long they would take. When the second round arived 10 minutes later, one of our friends asked our waitress if she even took her order (she didn't).The food was amazing, as were the deserts. If only gratuity wasn't added for the service we DIDN'T recieve.I would have complained, but it's not the servers fault, it's the owners. They have set the servers up to fail, by not recognizing bad service ruins an experience.
Report This ReviewBeen going to this place since it opened maybe 2 years now, the food is very good tasty and flavorful. Too bad I can't say the same for the service I went there Augusr 6, 2006 Sunday evening for dinner the place was probably 30 to 40 percent occupied we were seated right away in the outdoor rear section where it was warm however it took us 15 minutes before we saw a menu and 20 minutes before we were given a glass of water. We ordered right away the food was bought in a timely fashion but we never got our water refilled and the empty plates sat in front of us for another 25 minutes. In a nut shell the service lacks quality. Experienced same service on prior occasions there as well.
Report This ReviewAfter driving by this place a million times, my husband and I finally stopped in for dinner. Small place, but nice atmosphere and decor, interesting (in a good way) menu choices, great service, and great mojitos. We shared an appetizer which tasted very good (especially their spicy strawberry sauce). My husband loved the Cuban skirt steak. I had the tilapia, which was a little dry, but overall ok. I would go back to try more menu items.
Report This ReviewBoth of the locations are excellent!
The atmosphere is warm and the service is friendly and prompt. And the food is DELICIOUS! Cuban Nachos are mouth watering and a shot of "Witches Brew" is sure to start off the night with a kick! 4****!
