All I can say is...well, it's a joke. We went to the Downers Grove location on a Sat. night and there weren't more than 10 other people there. The service was so incredibly slow that we actually, almost left several times; but reassurances from "management" kept us there. The food? Not awful but not great or even that good. The sausages tasted identical from your local grocer's kielbasa. The pork was dry, the meat, steak choices, were super rare. Don't be fooled by this soon to be defunct rip-off...If you want any kind of churascaria experience, go to Brazaaz or Fogo de Chao - Avoid Zed at all costs.

Tried to make reservataion
By Happy Viking from West Loop, November 25, 2007

Called on Friday for a Saturday evening (11/17/07) reservation - the hostess said that the only times available were 5:00 to 5:30 or after 8:45 p.m. We made reservations elsewhere but decided to stop by Zed on the way home from dinner at about 8:30. Something about the way the hostess communicated made us think that the restaurant was not really that busy.

At 8:30 on a Saturday night the bar was virtually empty and several tables were unoccupied. It was clear that someone had instructed the hostess to tell callers that the restaurant was full and busy, probably to create a buzz and get people to reserve earier the next call. The ambiance part of the restaurant looked OK - we had drinks at the bar (seriously overpriced - $10 for a basic Margarita - many drinks were priced at $11 and $12) - There are so many other choices in Downers Grove / Westmont that going to Zed 451 would be a waste of time and given the prix fixe for the mean, also a waste of money.

Great Experience

Everything about Zed451 is incredible. Their chefs cruise the dining room with an incredible amount of steak, pork, chicken, lamb and fish. If you want your meat cooked a specific way, just ask as I did. I will definitely return as I thoroughly enjoyed everything from the ambiance to the food

Friends recommended ZED for a group dinner as we can rarely agree on where to dine since we all enjoy various cuisines. Well, you can't go wrong here! With sooooo many choices, we all got exactly what we wanted. We will be back!

The concept of this type...

The concept of this type of dining experience is unique and interesting , but poorly executed . For a Friday evening the restaurant was sparsely populated . The lighting was that of a piano bar . I would have thought that they might want to show off the food that they were serving until the piece of raw chicken was served . The bright pink center of the roasted chicken was the bright red flag on this restaurant . With the exception of the chicken , the food was better than that of a Bennigans or a Fridays but not worth the price that they are charging . I do believe this unique restaurant has potential but for now if you do plan on visiting , bring a flashlight and inspect your food before eating it .

Food tasted good; a little salty but good. However, the price is way way way overboard; especially for a new restaurant. Price wise, they should start lower and build a customer base. Afet that, maybe start to raise the price.

Service just OK, a million people offering food even when not indicated. Hard to go back for a $140.00 (2people) meal when Fogo is better and cheaper.

This was our third visit...

This was our third visit since they changed the concept. First, the food: There were so many different types of meats and fish to choose from we can't even begin to describe them as each was better than the one before! We especially enjoy the lamb chops with goat cheese, filet wrapped in bacon and the parmesan pork. My friend who is not a huge "meat" fan thoroughly enjoyed the fish selections. Everything was perfectly seasoned, tender, juicy and perfectly prepared. The salad selections were the freshest and most creative as well. The wine list is awesome; our friend found a few favorites he rarely finds anywhere else and very reasonably priced. Our service from start to finish was attentive and unobtrusive. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Everyone in our group left completely satisfied. We made our next reservation as we were leaving!

It's confusing because you have once server explain everything to you, have an other refill your water, an other take your dessert order. I never knew who to ask for something. The food was alright, I agree the halibut was disappointing, wish they would have offered a bigger variety of other types of meat.

Horrible.
Inattentive Service.
Bad Food.
There was an amuse?
Never saw it.
Over cooked meat.
Undercooked Halibut.
Was offered chicken about 5 times.
Was offered sausage that tasted like kielbasa from the local grocer several times.
Never saw any lamb chops come out until we asked several times for them.
The chef did deliver lamb chops to our table...
One for my wife;
and one for me.
There were 14 tables seated in the restaurant on a Saturday night.
The worst $160 dollars I have ever spent for (2) people. I don't expect to see this restaurant open past Thanksgiving.
