Walker's Charhouse: User Reviews
Walker's Charhouse
8 W. Gartner Rd. - Naperville630-637-9688
I have not been to a restaurant of this poor caliber in a long time. The only thing decent was the bread. My family (two adults and two kids) ordered off the main menu and I think that three of the dishes including at least one of the soups shared a common base sauce. Everything was over salted. My pork tenderloin was cooked to death. I went becuase I was always curious and there was a $10 coupon in a local flyer - that should have been a clue. This was probably at one time a good "old school" restaurant, but it now seems only appealing to those who have taste buds are over taxed and close to retirement.

We arrived at this restaurant and were a little unsure what to think as the outside really was not very appealing at all, but decided we would give it a go. Inside the restaurant was quite busy for a Monday evening and nicely decorated in a casual way. It looked a cosy family run establishment with low lighting.
There was quite an extensive menu covering Steaks, Pastas and Seafood with a Lighter fare menu for those with a smaller appetite.
The Appetizers and Entrée when they arrived were nothing out of the ordinary but the portions size was good and the prices reasonable. The dessert “Brownie Sundae” was absolutely gorgeous and an absolute bargain at only $3.75.
The staff I have to say were extremely friendly and went out of their way to please, I am sure that we will be eating here again in the near future.

This is a solid place. Period. The food is reliable and reasonably priced. The wait staff has been in place a long time because they make money. Regulars upon regulars come in because it is a solid place. Tom the owner is a good guy and knows how to run a restaurant. They have a featured appetizer and 2 soups daily. Tucked away in the Naperville Plaza, but a friendly place with a friendly regular bar crowd. Give it a try.
Report This ReviewIt is me and my wife first time to Walker's. I select their "Walker's House Special". Which is a butt steak, but too bad the steak was burnt like a charcoal. So, I ask the waitress to take it back to the chef. Ok, but wait till the kicker. 5 mins later, my wife found a WORM in her dish!! The manager told me this never happened in the past 10 years. I don't know. But, I do know they have a serious issue going on here. Someone should ask the health inspector to check out these guys! I should put down a -1 star.
Report This ReviewWe've gone there off and on for 5 years. 5 Years ago, it was an incredible place - great food, great service, wonderful with kids. Unfortunately, it's fallen down in all areas. The seem to resent the presence of even well behaved kids, service forgets you frequently (we've had to ask the hostess for help), and the food has become mediocre. We wish they'd return to their old ways, we loved them and were going 1 x week. Now, rarely.
Report This ReviewWe found this place to have very good food in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. There is nothing pretentious or stuffy about this place -- just great steaks. The entrees are reasonably priced, and include a salad and one side dish. In sum, the food was better than expected and a good value -- we'll be back!
