Best burgers in town!

I recently went to Viand for lunch while I was staying at the hotel next door and the burgers are amazing! I had the In-n-out burger which was stuffed with cheese and spicy chile. If you are ever in the neighborhood you have to treat yourself and try one! For only $6.95 it was a great value. Viand is not what you would expect from a restuarant attached to a hotel. I will for sure be back during my next Chicago visit!

Disappointing...

I had high hopes for Viand, based on reviews I’d read. Sadly, I was disappointed. Service was a high point -- the staff was attentive and helpful. Décor is OK, about what I’d expect from a mid-scale hotel restaurant. Food -- ehhh. A beet and goat cheese salad sounded promising, and its presentation was indeed fanciful -- but the idea of molding thin slabs of beet around a solid puck of cheese made for a very heavy dish, indeed. Pumpkin soup tasted OK, if a bit salty. Salt, in fact, was a prominent note in all the dishes -- too prominent. A lamb rib appetizer was (dare I say it?) too big for an appetizer, and the sauce was too sweet. Onion-crusted sturgeon was the best of show at our table. We didn’t have time for dessert -- nor room in our tummies, given that heavy chunk of goat cheese! I don’t plan to return any time soon...

Spectacular

We celebrated my father-in-law's birthday here and couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening. Chef Steve Chiappetti now offers private cooking lessons in the kitchen and the whole interactive experience was so far past my expectations I am still flying high. For a ridiculously low price per person, you dine in the kitchen at a private table with private server and receive not one, not two, but the entire meal as a lesson from this incredible chef. We had soups, we had pasta, risotto, scallops.....It was magic how seamless the evening was. My father-in-law left there saying it was the best present he has ever received. Call the restaurant to book the event. Do it!

I had the most delicious meal at Viand. It was romantic and the food was perfect. I had lamb that was the most tender I have ever had. The cocktails were amazing and the service was flawless.

I had the most wonderful dinner at Viand. It was romantic, the portions were huge and inventive. Best of all, everything tasted so GOOD. The service was efficient. I loved the merlot he chose to accompany my meal. I am going to have all my special occasions there. Thanks!

I had an amazing experience at Viand. The hostess and servers were so helpful and created a friendly, inviting atmosphere. The food was to die for! The asparagus speared salmon was delicious and the apple dessert with apple sorbet was absolutely heavenly! I would highly recommend Viand to anyone who wants an enjoyable, satisfying dining experience. Bon Appetit!! : )

worst food ever

I went there after I saw Metromix (by the way very disappointed in that show after going to this restaurant, you made it look like the best deal for food and service), oh how much I was disappointed.

Lets not talk about 45 minutes wait for the appetizer, and then another 45 minutes for dinner and when they brought the dinner I asked them to get me the dessert and bill as soon as they can, which funnily enough it took them another 50 minutes!! what the f!!!

now lets talk about the food, I went for those republican/democrat menus, appetizers were ok, the soups were real bad, one of my friends had the curry carrot soup!! its just minced carrots in a bowl. dinner I ordered the ribs and my friends had the small piece of beef, I think you can cook another feast with the oil that came with the food, I have never seen anything so oily, and the ribs, oh my god, its was a long huge piece of bone that has all the fat of the world on it with some meat!! u have to sit and find ur meat between all the fat...

now the desert, we ordered some ice cream brownie thingy covered with whip cream, first it was like a row egg in front on me, its stank of egg!! the brownie part was a really cheap brownie that they must have got a 5 years old to bake it or it was so old it tasted so bad. it was frozen when it came. I couldn't eat it I returned it with the card they gave us to pick who will win the elections and if your party wins you get 50% of your next bill. You would have to pay me to go to this place again!!

Sorry I took so long but this place sucks and the service sucks and the silverware stinks...
thanks

YUM!

Wow! I've passed by this restaurant so many times and finally stopped in last night. The meal my family and I had was wonderful. There were so many things that we all wanted to try on the menu that we all vowed to come back! Everything tasted great from the ravioli and lamb sausage corndogs (sounds corny but so good), to the steak that was perfectly cooked to temperature. Then we had dessert - WOW! When they say homemade pies they mean it! They were delicious!! The ice cream that came with it was so creamy and delicious too! Definitely worth a try - especially for the great value - in that area of the gold coast particularly! The staff and service are great too!

Great food, an even better value

This place is a gem. I stopped by with a friend for a quick lunch and from beginning to end everything was great. Our server was very helpful. We stopped by on a Thursday and they have this amazing deal--$10 for a soup, main dish and dessert. You can't beat that deal anywhere, especially give this restaurant's location. The portions are huge, also. I had less than half of my main dish and was full. The tomato garlic soup is excellent. Also try their flourless chocolate cake--it's not too heavy but full-bodied enough to satisfy a chocolate craving. I see myself going back to this place often for the great food, the lovely and soothing decor and the fabulous service. This is a great place for a business lunch as well.

A REAL FIND

DON'T LET THE PROXIMITY TO THE HOTEL THROW YOU OFF. THIS IS A HIGHLY INNOVATIVE ESTABLISHMENT WITHOUT A HINT OF SNOBBERY. THE LAMB RIBS ARE TO DIE FOR.
