Update: The folks behind Viand signed-on Steve Chiappetti (ex Mango, Grapes, Rhapsody) as exec chef in October of 2006. Chiappetti ditched Viand's former small plates-focused menu in favor of comfort foods; the new lineup includes faves from Mango like the like braised lamb ribs with a spicy plum sauce and a stuffed cowboy-cut pork chop with mustard sauce, plus fresh options like an asparagus-stuffed tuna loin with cucumber-dill yogurt. As for the space, the crushed velvet, dark wood paneling and art-deco details, which give this bar and restaurant a 1930s supper-club feel, remain; look for additional decor upgrades like a floor-to-ceiling wine library and a waterfall behind the bar.
