Rude. Over-priced. Did I mention rude?

The staff at Trotter's To Go needs to read their boss' book "Lessons in Service." I have yet to be acknowledged by any of the staff, even while checking out. Is it really that hard to say "hello" or maybe even, oh I don't know... tell me the total??? Blank stares, over-priced food, and non-existent service add up to a less-than-stellar experience. I gave this place as many chances as I can muster. I'm done. Sorry, Charlie.

We got our Thanksgiving turkey (breast only) from Trotter's and it was dry, tough, & bland. For some reason they decided to slice the meat, which probably didn't help to keep it juicy. But I suspect that wouldn't have mattered much because the meat seemed of very low quality, with a strange grayish color. It reminded us of something from a Swanson TV dinner. The accompanying gravy (which cost extra, btw)was bland, too. Major disappointment!

PART III:

To Trotter's credit, the staff is very friendly and they certainly are willing to refund money for any item not up to your expectations. But that isn't much of a consolation once you are home eating an expensive meal that isn't any better than the hot bar at Whole Foods.

For the money, I would definitely take a pass on this place.

And to Charlie, if you are listening, would ya' step it up a notch?

PART II:

Desserts are definitely NOT the strong suit here. Also purchased was a chocolate brownie 'cake', which was so dry we could barely swallow it. Again, I bought this on the advice of the staff who said it was moist and rich. While trying to swallow this disgusting confection I couldn't believe I hadn't gone to "Bittersweet" which has FAR superior treats. I will never make that mistake again.

Food used to be much better when this place first opened and I can't believe Charlie has let things decline like this. Obviously there is way to much on his plate.

PART 1:

I have been going to Trotter's To Go on a regular basis since it opened and based on my most recent experience I feel compelled to write a review.

Most of the feed here is average at best, and I've had some items that are downright bad. A specific example was soft-shell crabs from a prior experience. They were coated with an awful breading that was so salty as to be inedible -- they went right to the garbage.

More recently, on Valentine's day, I purchased a $20 lobster pot pie which, I was assured by staff, had incredible chunks of lobster. I found about 4 lobster pieces the size of a pea.

This is a take out...

This is a take out restaurant hitting its stride. The food here is good and it seems that it is always fresh now. In the past sometimes the food seemed to be old on certain days. Now they have it together. Good turnover.

I have to disagree with the sandwich reviewers. While the sandwiches are always "good," sometimes when I unwrap them at work there is little between the bread. For 7 dollars and no side dish you would think that an upscale place like Trotter's wouldn't skimp on ingredients. Put that extra piece of lettuce on the bread, man. I mean, comeon.
