Treat Restaurant

Who would think of adding polenta as a side for sandwiches, instead of fries? Only, Treat! They are very creative and off beat, that is why they are so successful and so what everyone needs to try. They are doing things off the beaten path and some may not like that, but I appreciate it, specially because they are so cheap and affordable too.
Report This ReviewWe were told about Treat by our neighbors who were there for a party and we decided to check it out since it is a short drive down North Ave. We were totally taken by storm. The food is so good. It is not large portions and it is not casual food. I like their menu. I have taken out of town guests and everyone enjoyed this place very much. We even decided to try the brunch and loved it. The food is a great value for what it is. Don't expect regular cafe menu here. They do amazing dishes. It is close enough for us to go often and we do. Keep it up, guys.
Report This ReviewLove this place. Great for the neighborhood. Good food, excellent prices. Good brunch also.
Report This ReviewThe room is pretty cute but the slow service and the mediocre food leaves me a bit unimpressed. i love Lula's, I think I will stick to going there for Brunch from now on.
Report This ReviewGreat. Good service, price and place.
Report This ReviewWe had dinner here 4 times since they opened and we have always enjoyed their seasonal menu. Each menu change has been exciting and has been very creative. Ingredients are always fresh and the food is really what you would expect at a fancier place, but they serve it for a lot less. Their salmon is outstanding. I recently had brunch too and their vegan pancakes are out of this world. It seems there is some personal attack going on by someone (maybe a disgruntled employee) but please ignore them. Clearly, they have no taste in good food. Go to Treat and enjoy their delicious meals. If this place was any better it would be more expensive. We like it as it is and we think they are doing a fine job. I would go here often if I lived closer, but I live too far to come more often.
Report This ReviewWe come here all the time but sad to say we wont be returning unless some major changes are made. We used o have our favorite server Ben. Now we have some aloof guy that is constantly talking to the kitchen but for some reason cannot get our food to the table while it is still hot. In addition it seems like the kitchen staff has changed completely. The food used to be good but it is so inconsistent now we aren't going to gamble anymore. I wish the owner would address these problems since there are no other sit down restaurants in the neighborhood. It seems like he has a goldmine he is allowing to crumble. Hope things improve soon.
Report This ReviewI had been for brunch but never made it for dinner. I had a couple of appetizers and the two of us split the lamb. I was impressed by how perfectly cooked it was. totally fell off the bone and delicious and full of flavor. The polenta is so tasty with it and the tomato chutney is a good combination. I lked the chocolate cake with the ice cream. I am coming back all the time. So cheap and so good. Best BYOB I have ever been to.
Report This ReviewI love living in Chicago because you can see inventive, personal places like Treat open up. The open kitchen is a great sign to me. Additionally, the food is always fresh and consistently tastes fantastic. Fries do not determine the quality of a restaurant, people. I don't go to Treat for the fuss and muss - it is a BYOB afterall. It is a place to have good food for an amazing value. I love their sandwiches and the seasonal menu. I like their innovative ways of updating and seasonalizing the menu items. This, in Humboldt Park? Yes, I say try it. Their brunch is equally as amazing.
Report This Reviewthe cod sandwich is pretty good, the fries were luke warm when they got to the table. the lamb shank looked and tasted terrible. It wasn't carmelized at all. making it look grey. My friends salmon was way overcooked and his salad had too much dressing. The amount of people working there and us being the ONLY table everything should have been perfect. Our server seemed to think conversation with some guy and the bar was more important than serving us. Too bad since we thought having a new restaurant in the neighborhood would be a real "treat."
