Went on a Sunday morning. Sat on patio with no wait and when we were first seated we had the entire patio to ourselves. Very quite and peaceful if not a little bit of a pain in the ass to use the restroom.
Food was well prepared. I had the Crab Benedict with was a little on the funky side (the Hollandaise has quite the twang, but at least its real), but it was ultimately a combination which worked. Wife had the BELT, which is their equivalent to an egg sandwich. The BELT was impressively good. Home Potatoes were practically mashed potatoes, however, my wife enjoyed them thoroughly.
Service was attentive throughout our visit. Very child friendly.

Toast is a nice place for breakfast-- I like the crab benedict and the stuffed french toast is great. Coffee is decent too. However, it's busy, like many Chicago brunch places, and takes a while to be seated. Service is polite and efficient, but there is a wait on the weekends. It's average pricing, not a super value. I would go more often if it was less packed.

I arrived at the restaurant a little after 8 am on a Saturday. The door was locked and the 'closed' sign was posted. My friend and I looked at the door and windows - but the hours of operation were not posted.
There were three people working at the bar preparing for opening. They looked up when we tried the door, and then just went back to what they were doing. NO ONE bothered to come to the door and let us know what time the restaurant actually opened. If this is how Toast treats their customers - then I don't want any part of it.

Toast wins on all accounts but atmosphere. If you don't mind hearing the conversation at the table right next to you, then check this place out...but be warned, it's a really cramped environment.
Hey owners, please buy that crappy boutique next door and expand your place! I am willing to be you will be able to fill it to capacity every day.
Sundays are tough to get in, but worth it. The pancakes (any of their many varieties) are great! The breakfast potatoes served with most entrees rock too. The best in the wicker park/bucktown area.
The staff can tend to be offstandish and apathetic, but whatever. It's not like they are getting tipped out a lot for 8-10 dollar entrees. I can understand. As long as they get me in and out quickly and refill my coffee, I'm cool. Although this can be hit or miss too, depending on the server you get.
Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone that wants some awesome, hangover nursing breakfast food on the weekend. It's not greasy, really tasty, and the portions are nice.

I haven't eatin here in seven years, but when I went back today I noticed this eatery hasn't altered its menu in keeping up with modern times. The BLT was an awesome selection for breakfest since I am not an egg fan, however, the "stuffed" french toast with chocolate tasted like flour with a shot of vanilla sweetener. Whatever this was please remove it from the menu. Insullation is made for my condo's walls, i mean my loft...

The food was amazing but I went there to meet a friend I had not seen in a long time. Within 20 minutes, they had removed my coffee cups and all the dishware. Within 30 minutes, the wait staff was hinting they wanted us to leave. Within 40 minutes, we were asked to move to the bar as they had a line outside. I have never in my life been rushed out of restaurant so other customers could be served.
Report This ReviewI enjoy coming to Toast with my boyfriend on Sundays. Sometimes there's a wait, but that's to be expected on brunch Sunday. I like the small intimate room and the atmosphere. The busboy is always very attentive when making sure water is filled and the waitresses are always very friendly and helpful. I think the food is fantastic, there's always huge amounts. I've tried a variety of items on the menu and so far, all of them are great. This is a place to check out!
Report This ReviewMy stomach was very happy. The food is amazing. It was good quality without high quailty price. The service was quick and approachable. I would serisouly go here every week if I could.
Report This ReviewThis place has gone to the dogs. Between the blaring music and the Benatar look-a-like playing air guitar behind the counter, I can't think of anyplace I would less like to be on a Sunday morning. By the way, if the potatoes are still hard in the middle, they're not done.
