I met a former co-worker out for lunch for her 30th bday. I would have tried the short-rib panini, but I ready someone elses bad review on it on another web site. I opted for the Mexican Chopped Salad that had 3 huge shrimps, mangoes, and fresh cut corn. I'm no chef, I just watch Top Chef on TV, but the shrimp seemed slightly under cooked, the mangos were not ripe, and the lettuce was not fresh and/or over dressed. The bday girl had the Lobster Roll sandwich, I didn't get offered a taste but it looked great. We shared the fries which seemed over cooked and oily. I've had better truffle fries. The service was decent, and the valet's were really nice. I'd try it again, and those staying in the hotel or who can't get into Roof or the other restaurant there will be satisfied.

Food Misfired at Lunch

At the waiter's suggestion I ordered the special of the day: seafood sausage. It was dreadful and I sent it away. The manager was apologetic and offered to get me something else. Did not charge for the misfire. I would probably go back since the service was good, but I'm a little lerry.

Wow!

Went in for dinner with some friends last night. First the ambiance. Dark brown leather walls, antique seltzer bottles on the wall. Very cozy and very well put together. My only complaint would be the tables in the center in the room have no backs on the chairs. The food was superb. We dined on a pork belly special appetizer with a summer truffle sauce, Halibut with a poached quail egg on top of it, and a braised Pork Shoulder with a mac and cheese like you've never had. Everything was full of flavor and plated with care. Desert was a sticky toffee pudding I can't get off my mind. Service was friendly and more professional than I would expect from the bar-ish atmosphere. Don't forget $5 craft microbrews. There's no place else you can find a great beer that cheap downtown. All in all, a real find that is sure to be one of my new favorite places!
