Go for lunch and skip dinner
By timhumphreys from Lakeview, November 22, 2009

Overall rating:

My wife had gone to Rhapsody for lunch and really enjoyed it and so wanted to try their dinner menu. Not sure if our expectations were too high but the food was really disappointing. Both the fish I had and the lamb my wife had were overcooked and rather tasteless. The only thing that really proved worth having was the butternut squash side that we ordered.

Desserts for the foodie
By foodie81 from lincoln park, August 22, 2009

I have been dining at Rhapsody for a few years for its ambiance and its fresh menu. I was dissappointed with the dessert menu in the beginning, it wasn't anything too special. But for the mast year and half or so it has been amazing! The Pastry Chef Tina Tomasello has revamped the dessert menu into her own vision. I find myself rushing through dinner to get to the dessert...everything is always made with passion and true professionalism.

Lights out

What happened to a wonderful experience? Was the kitchen on vacation? Expectation was not even close to menu description. But oh boy what service. Leaving hungry, not due to portion size but tastless and boreing presentations. If this was the symphony, I would have been sleeping half way through the meal. Better choice is to try something on Michigan Av. and get the full tourist treatment.

Very Proffesional

Like everyone else in the restaurant, we were going to the symphony, and due to the weather we were late. Our server, Mark, was very sypathetic to our issue, and dispite the time constraints, delivered very swift proffessional service. Upon his recomendation, I had the scallops, which were TOP NOTCH. My partner had the beef sirloin, which he loved too. We still had time for coffee, which could have been better, but after service and dinner like, who can complain about the coffee?

Really bad. Everyting was really overpriced. If this had been served at a pub or something I might understand but it was a $100 tab for lunch and it sucked.
I got the trio of fish. The tuna was way overdone and hard. Inedible. Even the lady at the next table took one bite and left the rest. And the waiter didn't come by to check on the food or make any attempt to remedy the problem after teh plate had been bussed. Don't ever got there. Never.

My wife and I went on a night the Symphany was playing. It was a very bad decision, and I don't know how any critic could give this resurant four stars. The food was extremely bland and there was very little variety on the menu. The best part of our dinner was the bread

Grossly over-priced for the food/drink...
By George from Chicago, IL, January 30, 2007

Grossly over-priced for the food/drink quality and quantity. I ordered the Bouillabaisse Risotto which was heavy on the rice and light on the prawns, clams, mussels, etc. The few and small prawns were dry and lacking flavor. Likely over cooked.
My girlfriend orderd the Mahi Mahi, which was better than my Risotto but definitely not worth $28. She also ordered the Cocoa Punch and said it was watered down and just not good at all. It looked like a watery kool-aid and tasted similar. Again, not worth $9, or even half that.

The only bright spot was the service, which was top-notch. What a let down when the food and drinks arrived.

Do yourself a favor and skip this huge disappointment.

By Webster from Chicago, IL, December 13, 2006

In a word, overpriced. Rhapsody has a really nice ambience and vibe, and the service is quite attentive. The food is decent, but they charge way too much for what you get, and what its worth. I ate here on a quiet weeknight, and had the sirloin as my entree. It was served with Pumpkin Potato Cake, Broccoli Rabe
& Mission Fig Hollandaise. While the food was tasty, the sirloin was too charred on the outside. It came medium rare as ordered, but was almost burned to a crisp on the exterior, and the meat itself was very juicy. For a $28 entree, I was expecting a better grade of beef, and cooked properly.

My husband and I ate...

My husband and I ate there before we went to the Tool concert, which was at the Auditorium Theatre. We were very conservatively dressed, and yet the hostess was just a bit snooty when we asked for a table for 2 without reservations. My husband had the pork chop and didn't like it at all and was still hungry after we left. I ordered the halibut, and I thought mine was fabulous. The service (despite hostess) was prompt and polite. The average entree price is a bit misleading...it's more like $28/entree.
