Very interesting ambiance. It's like stepping into an antique store. Food was very good. Three of us for lunch. I personally had the hamburger and it was very satisfying. Good vegetarian selection. Service was also good. For a good value, eclectic experience, come to Prairie Joe's!

I'm a vegetarian, and I knew this was a diner-type place, but boy did it surprise me! There's loads of veggie options and they even have vegetarian soups every day (I asked). There's definitely some strange-sounding stuff on the menu, like a grillete which is pasta and vegetables grilled together, but it was sooo good. My boyfriend eats meat though, and he said their chicken quesadilla is really good too. We're not in Evanston often, but going here is always a treat. I would totally recommend it, and it's not to harsh on the wallet either (thankfully!).

The best breakfast you can get on the Northshore outside of having a personal live in chef, and why have that when you would miss the atmosphere and artifacts that reflect on the various movements of comtemporary life. It is a must see. Go early on a Saturday when the Wildcats Play or wait and absorb the decor. Either way it's good ole breakfast the way it was meant to be. Can Ivan whip up the specials! Don't be shy the adventure is what it is all about. Definitely four stars and the kids will love it too. Hey Kids don't forget to partake in the toy basket at the front door. All toys ages 3 and up. Trust me I have tested the age limit.
Report This ReviewLove it! Consistently good, fresh food. Standards such as burgers, meatloaf and great shakes, as well as innovative ethnic cuisine, especially Mexican, South American and Middle Eastern with plenty of vegetarian options. Very comfortable, friendly, low-key place. Interaction if you want it. The thought-provoking, ever-changing menu designs and decor are worth the visit alone. And then there's the music ...
Report This Reviewjust recently discovered prairie joe's, a gem in the neighborhood. Very Americana, a blast from the past and full of humor, Food is original and a great value. I recomend it highly to anyone,
Report This Review A very original restaurant in every sense of the word.
Great food comparable to some of the better restaurants at great prices. Atmosphere is out of this world with every possible imagination exhibited in some form including lots of art by the owner Very family oriented and No Smoking!
Plenty of kitsch to amuse you, grand collections of oldies "stuff" ranging from 1960's hair dryers to brownie cameras are the decor, along side the owner's original artwork. Lots of things to stare at.
Service is diner-ish, sometimes it's on, sometimes it's not. The food is always plentiful, varied and interesting - ranging one day from Beef Stew and eggs to grilled cheese sandwiches and a rootbeer float the next. Kid friendly. Senior Friendly.
I've never had a bad experience and I've been coming here for late breakfasts for several years.
It's a fun place to eat.
