Fantastic

I can't believe we waited over a year to go to this place. It was fantastic. Everything was great from the presentation, the food, the service, the wine (White Cottage)...etc. I would go back in a heart beat. We went to Spaiggia a few weeks ago and both of us agreed that if we could eat one meal again it would be the one at Perennial. I can't think of a single negative. We are looking forward to trying brunch next.

Great night out

I went to Perennial with my boyfriend and had a great experience. The food is innovative and delicious. Sometimes it's a trade-off between creativity and fulfillment - forcing you to snack later in the night. Not here - we both left stuffed! I also appreciated the use of local ingredients when possible. Our server was knowledgable and helpful without being snooty. Sure, it's a little pricey, but definitely worth it for a great meal in a relaxing, satisfying environment. I'll be back for sure.

The decor of the restaurant was really nice, great for a date. The drinks were very good and reasonably priced. I ordered a vanilla mojito and it was one of the best drinks i've had in a long time. We had an appetizer of the chicken wings, they were gigantic and amazing. My entre was a seafood dish and it was pretty meek, but good nevertheless. Overall, I would rate it an 8 out of 10 and I am looking forward to going back.

Best new restaurant hands down

I went to Perennial on a Monday night as part of the OpenTable.com restaurant week. We had a prix fixe three-course meal and every course was more delicious than the first. The pumpkin tart was unlike anything I've ever eaten, the salmon was perfection and the cheesecake foam was divine. We also got an amuse bouche from the the chef, a goat cheese crostini and gazpacho, which were both to die for. In addition to the great food, the service was impeccable and very friendly, the ambiance was perfect - not too fancy but not too casual - and the prices are surprisingly affordable for a restaurant of this quality. I will definitely be back with friends, my parents, my boyfriend and would recommend it to anyone who loves good food!

One of the best in the city

This is a restaurant that is high on our list. It is the triple threat -- great food, great ambiance, great service. We have the utmost respect for the chefs (Chef Ryan Poli and Chef Tentori) and the management team behind this new gem. It is an approachable menu with a reasonable price point. The chefs are the nicest guys around -- talented, and focused on creating and executing a memorable meal, mindful of the ingredients they use, all high quality with an emphasis on seasonal produce. We look forward to their seasonally changing menu -- this, in and of itself, shows how much they care in delivering the highest quality of food and creating a more than satisfying culinary experience. The wine list is diverse and non-intimidating -- something for everyone. We have not been disappointed in the times we have visited Perennial. Next -- Brunch!

This Place is Great even on a Monday!

Our guest from out of town offered to treat us to dinner at a restaurant of our choice. After reading the many positive reviews for Perennial, I picked it. NO ONE was disappointed. The decor was great, the music wasn't loud at all and the service was prompt. We ate at 7:15pm and there was a descent crowd dining already.
As for the food, it was marvelous! The starter dished were so different. My husband hd the risotto (unbelievable); I had the gnocchi and although it was different (it didn't look like the regular gnocchi) the flavors were amazing and finally our friend had the glazed chicken our waiter called chicken lollipops (so good!). The crab salad very small ($12) but very good. The entrees were tasty. If ordering the monkfish we'd recommend ordering a side because it's just the fish. The scallops were delish an I'd recommend it. The dessert we ordered was rum cake wih rum ice cream - pretty good (not amazing). We were suppose to get a slightly large piece to share and when they brought it out it looked small and we joked about it so our waiter didn't include it in our bill, which wasn't too bad.

Overall, great place. We'd go back again.

THE place to be scence

Food: Excellent
Staff: Fun, energetic, down right cool

This place has the best vibe, atmosphere and decor out of all North Side restaurants. Perennial was a great success. With access to all there is to offer at the Grenn City Market (located across the street). The food is truly the main act at this place.

Cocktails in the lounge are both creative and modern while keeping the traditional feel.

This will be if not already the place to be scene in Chicago for those looking to have an awesome dinner and look good.

They seem like they cared

Portion sizes were 'spot on'.

The quality of the ingredients, artistic presentation, culinary creativity, and service were very apparent.

The raw beef and seafood app. was recommended and very good. Beet Gnochi good, but goat cheese companion was over-powering. Mac n Cheese side very good. Scallop/Beef cannoli excellent. Amish chicken superb. (Just a note: a large roasted alium accompanied both entrees. Thought it was over sized relative to the entree size.)

Desserts not quite as strong as the entrees or the app's. Chocolate brownie very good. Raspberry cheesecake didn't have a fresh raspberry note.

Rheinghau Riesling wine - very nice for the price.

The service is super, and each one always seemed genuinely concerned about our satisfaction and welcomed our comments.

The valet parking is in front of the (next door) hotel entrance on Clark St.

Fairly priced for value received. Best restaurant we have been to this year.

great experience at perennial...great presentation, yummy food! kingfish was a tad chewy, but overall the entree was very good. cheesecake dessert (be prepared though because definitely not your usual cheesecake, almost a meringue) was so light and a great way to end the meal. interesting crowd, great location, service was good-would definitely go back!

On The Favorites List

We visited Perennial for the first time this past Saturday. As neighborhood residents we were excited to see this very visible corner with great outdoor space finally open. We braved the questionable weather and took a table outside, our server Wesley (note: we highly recommend him) was really great. His knowledge of Perennial's wine selections went beyond the vernacular usually tossed about at the restaurant's tastings for staff - an attribute we appreciate since we both enjoy wine and like input from our server since they should know the selections best and how said selections compliment the menu.

We started out with a delicious appetizer (the only special of the evening) that included a wonderful mixed greens salad and scrumptious brie bread. The pastry was flaky and the brie was so divine. I had the pork tenderloin and my date the scallops with braised short rib in cannelloni. YUM-MY for both! The pork loin was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender, the “corn bread” which accompanied it was so flavorful. The scallops were also cooked perfectly (sometimes a difficult task for even the finest restaurants) and the braised short rib nestled within a thin cannelloni should be a dish all on its own! For desert we received recommendations from Wesley and selected two absolutely outstanding (deconstructed) deserts that were light but still rich in flavor.

To our surprise Chef Ryan visited our table with some tiny desert treats to try along with his thanks for dining with them (and braving the crazy, cloud-filled, will it or won't it rain sky)! Our only disappointment came when we suggested to Ryan that the braised short rib in cannelloni be a main dish and he explained that when tried previously, the dish was SO popular he and his staff could not keep up with the delicate cannelloni production. *sigh*

Perennial is now on our "go to" list of places in the neighborhood and to also take any friends visiting the city. We enjoyed it very, very much!
