I heard a lot of great things about this place and went in wanting to like it. Our food was average and the price was high. It's not as though anything was bad, it's just that you can have the same or better quality for less at a million other places in Chicago. When we left, there was a 45 minute to get in. Had I waited 45 minutes for this food, I would have been irate. If you live in the neighborhood and there's no wait, consider it; otherwise, avoid.

I just got back from my second visit to Over Easy, and I cannot overstate my love for this place. As the name suggests, they have many egg related options, all of which look delicious (the only one I have tried, the Frazzled eggs, is fantastic). But what I really appreciate it is the wide range of lunch style choices, as I am often more in the mood for a sandwich or salad than a breakfast dish. And the curried chicken sandwich is SO good! Our server, Gwen (I think), was beyond nice and very helpful, and the food comes out in a flash, which is a plus for those of us with kids. And speaking of the small people, they are so friendly and accommodating, even granting my request for just ONE pancake, and ONE egg, at a very reasonable price. The chef even cut up some melon and strawberries for my daughter to snack on until the food came, without my asking. I could go on and on, but instead I will simply implore you all to try this place. You will not be sorry.

I have seen people waiting in a line outside of this place on cold winter mornings. The wait is worth it. Food portions are generous -- almost ridiculously large. The coffee comes from Julius Meinel, a coffee house of international reknown.
It can be noisy when it's crowded -- which is often -- but it's a lively place. It costs about $6 for two eggs with toast and potatoes and $10 or so for the more inventive and artfully presented breakfasts.
When this place burned down a year or so ago, the owner continued to pay the staff during the rebuilding. This alone would make it worth supporting, but the payoff is also that the staff is really tight, professional and quick.
Bring your appetite.

The wait wasn't long for a Saturday morning - but we did opt for seats at the bar which proved to be a better choice because it was like getting two waitresses. The staff was very attentive and friendly, including the bus boys - heck, the cook even came out when we were finished and asked us how everything was.
Usually there are only one or two fancy items on the menu to choose from. I would have to say that I had a hard time deciding on an entree because everything was something that I wanted to try. The orange butter sold me on Emily's Dream Pancakes and the food presentation was the stuff of magazine photos. Sides were a bit pricey and for two it came out to more like $15 a person (but I did get the $4 Black Eyed Orange Juice).
I think I'll become a regular here.

I go here almost every Sunday after mass...they have a rotating menu of brunch specials that is always great. The wait is always long on the weekend, but it is worth it. The servers are awesome. My coffee cup is never empty and they serve your meal pretty quickly after you order. I look forward to my Over Easy visit all week long :)

We ate at Over Easy for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Sassy Eggs were delicious with chorizo hash & guacamole as was the Apple Pancake (it actually rivals Walker Brothers!). We will definitely be back.

We went to Over Easy for the first time this weekend and loved it! Breakfast was fantastic and the service was great! We waited about 20 minutes to sit down, but waited outside and the time went by quickly especially with the comp coffe served on the sidewalk. Will return for sure!

There is something on the menu for everyone, the food presention is very creative with an average price tag. There are a numbers of poor resturants in Chicago and Over Easy is NOT one of them. It is a small resturant and this is why you have to wait in line on the weekends. The best time to go is at 2:30pm righ before they close or during the week.

I loved over easy. I first went there for the "fake" opening. The owner is my uncle's friend so i got a tour and everything. The food is awesome and everyone is so nice. I wish to become a chef and this is a great example for my place.
