Orange on Roscoe

My wife and I just placed a take out order from Orange on Roscoe, less than a block away from our house. My wife had to repeat the order three times because of the noise level at Orange. She was told 15-20 mintues when she arrove they had forgotten my omelet and was then told that the "new girl" who answered the phone should have told us that they don't do carry out on the weekend, which is a fine policy, but let your staff (even "new" ones) know so they can inform customers. My wife then had to wait another half hour after the initial 20 minutes for them to make my omelet. We normally don't go to, or order in from Orange, as Kitsch'n is right next door.Kitsch'n has a far better atmosphere, food and staff. The food at Orange is mediocre at best accompanied by poor service doesn't make it worth anyone's while. As a Roscoe Village resident I can say that Orange is by far the poorest restaurant on a street full of gems.

Took my friend for breakfast today, thinking we will have a great experience and delicious food. What a terrible choice! Food was mediocre, had an omelette w/ brie cheese but I never tasted the cheese, one piece of toast , bland potato something and cold coffee. Bad presentation by wait staff. Doubt I'll be back or recommend it to someone. Sorry, too bad!!!!

that shouldn't be the goal of a restaurant. Six dollars for mushy, dry potatoes, bland, dry eggs and 1 sad piece of toast. The OJ, while fresh squeezed, was warm. Was told that fruit could only be substituted for potatoes, not toast. The pompous menu informed me that I couldn't build my own omelet, and if I wanted to I could go to the Golden Nugget, which is, in fact, what I will be doing next time I want a big tasty breakfast.

I live in the neighborhood and I've been to this restaurant a number of times for breakfast and dinner (and sometimes for breakfast at dinner). The food is expertly prepared. It is clear they focus (successfully) their attention on the taste and presentation of the meals. The dishes are generally inventive (i.e. rosemary infused French toast… doesn’t sound appealing but is actually very complementary) and very tasty. That's the upshot. The buckshot is that the service is slow and inattentive. Prices are reasonable for dinner and a little more than average for breakfast. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a very good somewhat-gourmet neighborhood meal for dinner (or a very gourmet breakfast) and can deal with lazy service.

I was excited to try this place for brunch, but it was a disappointment to say the least. One of their offerings is champagne cocktail flights. Upon placing an order for this, we were told a flight would take a "very long time" because the champagne bubbles over causing the bartender to need to pour slowly. (???) Being in no hurry, we elected to proceed. A full ten minutes later our server returned to say they were out of champagne-- at 11:00 AM. The server was consistently absent throughout the meal, understandable as she was waiting tables inside, outside as well as serving as hostess! The food itself was fine, but nothing exceptional. There are much better places to go for breakfast, I won't give this a second chance.

Went there for Sunday breakfast a couple of weeks ago. Got there about 9am, seated right away. Service was ok to good, food was ok. I don't find it to be nearly as appealing as such places in Bucktown as Cafe de Luca, Toast, Bongo Room, etc.

It really was a let down. The french toast was hard and not up to the standards we are used to at the other Orange on Clark St. and $3.50 for coffee is a bit high for brewed. Not recommended.

Upon arriving, we were seated however no one came up to us for 20 minutes and had to ask the host for our server to come over. The server was uninterested at best. The food came out in a timely fashion, only after the server spilled coffee on me, which was flavored with an orange essence which was absolutely foul. The food was overpriced and not what one thinks of for a hearty brunch. We will not be returning nor recommending it to anyone.... except maybe enemies.

My guess is that your experience can be a hit or miss at Orange on Roscoe. My experience was a BIG MISS. I went for a late breakfast on a Sunday. Had about a 15 minute wait, which is reasonable. My friend and I were then seated at not the most ideal table: right by the kitchen door and dirty dish bins. We looked at the menu, decided on our meals, and had to wait for quite a while before anyone came to ask for our orders or drinks. This in itself wouldn't have bothered me, however it only went downhill from here. At least four tables near by put in their orders after us, however they all received their food before us. We finally waived down our waitress asking about our food, and she promptly brought out our cold food. When she asked about our food, we told her that our food was cold, and she became defensive and immediately gave a speech about how it wasn't her fault. She said, "well, you're obviously not happy with your food, so I'll get you a discount." There was no attempt to make our food better and she never took the time to notice that we waited such a long time for our food. Should I have gone into the kitchen and gotten the food myself? We got a very small discount on the food and once again had to wait for our check. Once again was left waiting to have our credit card run through. In sum: food was cold, potatoes infused with pepper, service poor, ambiance a bit dim (not a breakfast atmosphere). A BIG MISS.

Just returned from a breakfast at Orange on Roscoe. We went to try their frushi which the server told us "is not usually ready early in the morning." I ordered the french toast kabob which was a huge disaster. The french toast was dry. It tasted like stale, crunchy bread. It was sitting on top of a mess of what they called mango coconut salad but it was brown and mushy. A disaster. I was definitely let down by this and would not return there for breakfast.
