Former Chicagoans Kimberly and Mike Dixon created this modern breakfast and lunch spot in their hometown of Geneva because they missed having a slew of hip brunch destinations right around the corner. Since it's one of the only area breakfast spots with a liquor license, you can sip a mimosa with your meal; go traditional with freshly squeezed orange juice, or try unique flavors including pear-blackberry or black currant with mango. There're also Monster Bloody Marys, Intelligentsia coffee, and a well-edited selection of bottled beers and wines by the glass.

The creative menu by chef Dave Nelson features a few items with a Latin flair, such as migas de pan caliente, a tasty warm bread salad with chorizo, onions and goat cheese. Other breakfast choices range from kitchy -- like the One-Eyed Susan, a grilled cheese sandwich with a fried egg in the middle -- to gourmet, such as eggs benedict made with coffee-crusted steak. On the lunch side, choose from a half-dozen sandwiches, salads and inventive entrees, including a trio of crabcakes with savory aiolis. A small-plates dinner concept on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays launches in mid-May.
