Jason Hammel and Amalea Tshilds, the owners of popular Logan Square spot Lula Cafe, are also behind this seasonally focused Pilsen restaurant, where they've partnered up with Matt Eisler (Empire Liquors, Bar DeVille, Angels & Kings) and Kevin Heisner. Longtime Lula sous chef Jason Vincent is the chef de cuisine, offering a menu that changes daily. (Hammel describes his fare as "very seasonal and very simple; pared-down, yet bold.") A 120-bottle wine list focuses on biodynamic and sustainable picks from small producers, and you'll find a similary focused selection of spirits and beer at the bar. The space, designed by Heisner, whose projects include Bar DeVille, Empire Liquors and Little Branch Cafe, features lots of unusual woodwork and antique fixtures, as well as a covered outdoor cafe with a gas fireplace and a basement wine room with communal seating.
