At this cozy family-run Arlington Heights diner, open since 1971, patrons can savor the homemade chili and apple pie prepared by members of the Spentzos family. Mr. Allison's draws a varied crowd of locals and out-of-towners to feast on healthy portions of homestyle breakfast and lunch specials. Breakfast specials include huge helpings of pancakes, omelettes, French toast and slices of ham. Lunch items range from a pepper egg sandwich to a turkey melt on pita bread. The house specialty is a ham off the bone. The atmosphere is homey and personal, with 1950s posters of Coca-Cola and orange juice ads decorating the walls.
