My friend ordered the overpriced filet mignon medium and she received it rare. They took the steak back and it returned charbroiled and well done. My friend lost her appetite after that.

My chicken dish arrived cold although it had good flavor. Overall I wasn't impressed.

Great oysters and the fries...

Great oysters and the fries are amazing but they are just as good at the Weiner's Circle covered in cheddar sauce. Truffle oil--come on- old news! Entrees were weak-- we had to send one back it was so off-flavor and my fish was lukewarm-- not worth $360 (for 4).Great ideas; poor, execution. And the decor-- SO 5 minutes ago-- looks like a cliched new constuction condo. I reccommend Erwin's in Lakeview-- the food is exquisite and the service is tremendous. Decor is intelligent, not pseudo-chic

I think the people who are rating saying that the portions are way too small and overpriced are too used to Americana restraints where they overfill your plate with cheap food so you think you are getting a good value... This is my favourite restaurant in the city. The service is great the food is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful. When I go there I am always seated within 5 minutes or less of arriving. I have taken friends from all over the country as well as my clients there and they have had nothing but positive things to say. This restaurant is refreshingly modern and leaves you full enough... try the pommes frites with a truffle cream sauce to start... you won't be sorry... or the lobster and whitefish in a lovely cream sauce for dinner. If you want larger portions just for the sake of larger portions I know there is a TGI Fridays somewhere in the city.

Great, if you want to...

Great, if you want to go home and eat another meal when you are done and like hanging out with people who think they are way cooler than they really are. The service was knowledgeable but not friendly. The atmosphere was nice but pompous. And the food was overpriced, highly pretentious, and served in pigeon portions. If you want an enjoyable experience, don't buy the hype, avoid MK.

Not worth the money. Tiny portions at over-inflated prices. They should find staff that is friendlier and offer some items that actually leave you feeling full. The hype is over. MK was not busy at all on a Saturday night. Don't waste your money at MK!

The service was great, and the food was excellent. Great pork, salmon, pasta, and lobster soup and salad. Best fries I've ever had. Skip the mashed potatoes. Not overly pricey considering generous portion size.

This is our favorite restaurant...
By Larry from Deerfield, IL, January 1, 2007

This is our favorite restaurant in the city. Have never had anything but an exceptional meal here. Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. Compared some other top-top restaurants, this is just as good and less costly. Sorry the city council has stepped on their foie gras appetizer, but we were there on NYE and had a very nice meal - 4 courses, with paired wines at each course - $275 for both of us, for an amazing dinner. My appetizer was a penne with shaved parmesan and truffles. Heavenly. Wife's scallops were melt in the mouth. Service was exceptional, except that the amuse bouche that they promised in advance for me didn't come till after the entree - a bit strange. It's still our favorite restaurant. We just need to go more often.

So many better restaurants in the city to choose from. Portions were small, service was average, atmosphere was boring, not much value

This is a great restaurant...
By Lloyd from Eugene, OR, October 30, 2006

Overall rating:

This is a great restaurant dedicated to high quality in all facets of the dining experience. Well-thought out food executed perfectly and a staff that has obviously been trained well. Simply one of the best restaurants in Chicago and no wonder it is still going strong nearly ten years after opening.
