Chef-partner Michael Kornick graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and worked at several top restaurants before opening MK in 1998 in a former paint factory. Since then, Kornick has received numerous awards, including three Best Chef-Midwest nominations from the James Beard Foundation. He now is involved with several other ventures, including N9NE Chicago and N9NE Las Vegas. Kornick remains involved at MK but has handed over day-to-day kitchen duties to his executive chef, currently Erick Williams, who has been with the restaurant for a decade. MK features an innovative new American menu with global influences that focuses on the freshest ingredients available. Entrees include seasonal presentations of organic chicken and rack of lamb, plus mainstays like the hardwood-grilled New York sirloin.
