Unpretentious Hidden Gem

Excellent food without attitude! Limited menu but the food is fresh, delicious, and unusual. Breakfast served daily and brunch on weekends. Soup, salad, and sandwiches served for lunch and dinner. Be sure to try the wonderful gelato. The place is hard to find but worth the search.

I'm reluctant to state what a treasure this is to the South Loop. The additions of lavendar, rose, etc that one can add to their tea credit their dining design to a European feel. Each dish is unique in the individual flavors that are offered to one's palate. The breakfast burrito with chorizo, eggs, black beans, and vegetables is something unfound nor challenged by other restaurants throughout the city. They are busy on the weekend, but do staff well for the increase in people flow. The cucumber water is a nice relief to a thirst as well. If desiring dessert, their gelato is a wonderful fulfillment. Mango or chocolate are personal favorites. The south loop is pleased to have the class and serenity this place offers.

Best Cappuccino in Chicago!

I lived in Italy for 2 years and became addicted to Italian cappuccino. Unfortunately, I could not find a place in Chicago that even comes close to authentic cappuccino...until the Little Branch Cafe!

My new favorite breakfast spot
By Fries French from Gold Coast, April 7, 2009

Overall rating:
4

I really hesitate to rave about how terrific this place is because I selfishly want it to remain off the radar. However, its excellence should not be hidden. As suggested, I had the french toast stuffed with mascarpone and topped with real vanilla bean creme anglais. It was, without exaggeration, the best french toast I had ever had. My previous favorite was Angelo's in Ann Arbor, but this beats that.

I was assured by a breakfast burrito connoisseur that the Little Branch version I watched him devour is now in his top 5. The vegetarian panini was delicious and came with house-made potato chips. The pickle on the side was all crunchy briny goodness and tasted like it was an in-house accomplishment as well. Coffee and tea selections are interesting. My lavender chai was fragrant and fantastic.

LB is full of natural light; the ambiance and decor are pleasant and modern.

I am still thinking about that french toast and cannot wait to return.
