September 18 - 2009 - BLAND

We had read some of the reviews on this and they were mixed but we decided to try it. The service and the ambiance were both great, our server was nice and attentive. However, the food was all awful and bland. The Stuffed mushrooms really had no flavor, the cheese plate appetizer was good except for the brie, it was hard instead of soft, but let's face it, anyone can go to a store and buy good cheese. I had the lobster ravioli, it was very bland and certainly had no lobster in it, I think the Buitoni pasta's from the grocery has more flavor. Their infamous No Oodle Carbonara, also bland bland and bland. I understand the noodles not having any flavor, they don't even have any calories so it makes sense, but a watery thin carbonara sauce with 1 large piece of bacon was not up to par at all. Will not ever go back, given the $100 tab and not one thing on the menu was worth it.

Bithday Nightmare

I recently attended a birthday party at Highland Park's After Dark. The overall experience was absolutely horrendous. Not only was the service horrible, there was no heating on the outdoor patio and drinks were very overpriced. The woman who ran the club was extremely rude and very unprofessional. The club advertises itself as being avaliable to guests until 2am and we were assured that it would be. However, the entire group of guests as well as the birthday girll were kicked out of the club at midnight. This place is a joke.

Great place to hangout with friends and enjoy a comfortable atmosphere.
The mushroom appetizer was my favorite. There is lots to offer on the menu
and the staff is really helpful making suggestions. Good for lunch or dinner.

Terri Rocks

Just what Highland Park needed, a cool place to hang out. The high style design is refreshing to the eyes, here on the Northshore, where many restaurants tend to be drab. The owner, Terri, makes everyone feel right at home. We love to sit at the fire pits and relax for lunch or dinner. The best part, of course, is the amazing menu. Be sure and get the Chorizo Meatballs! We've join the club... good nightlife in my own town, what a relief!

POOR OWNER

My friends and I went to this restaurant hoping it would be wonderful. It is in a perfect location, and a wonderful town. Everything was fine until my dinner came. My food was horrible. The manager came over and was very nice and asked me if I wanted something else. Well then the owner came over. First of all she should be ashamed of herself for the clothes that she wears during a dinner service! Very innapropriate!! Then she was so rude and asked me why would I order it if I wouldn't like it. The server apoligized to me for the owners behavior. I have never been treated like this before. I will NEVER go back, and I will put the word out!!!

What is Party Girl talking about?

You must have been to a different place than I frequent! I would disagree with every one of your points and from everyone I know that's been there, they would too. This place is great.

Not even if it was the only restaurant left on Earth!

Let me preface by saying that I really wanted this place to be great. I live in the neighborhood and am a serious foodie. It has a fabulous outdoor area, pretty presentation and great music but...Four times I have tried to eat here and four times the service was unbearable. 1st time we were the only people in the place and the waitress couldn't be bothered to take our order after 40 minutes. Second time, tried to have coffee with a friend and listen to the music but no one ever took our order so we just listened and went somewhere else to spend our money. Third time the manager had to serve us and even then it was wrong. Last night the owner was too busy putting on hand lotion and drinking her coffee to realize that people were leaving left and right. We complained and she brought us out 2 cups of soup to say she was sorry-unfortunately she couldn't count as there were 3 of us. We sat with 3 other groups in our area and they all complained too. The owner mocked us and said that if we felt that way-we shouldn't bother to come back. With that attitude, she will not be in business long. When the winter comes and all that there is to rest on is the true goodness of your food, the value (it is a bit pricey for what you get-especially the antipasto) and service versus the great weather and outdoor seating...well good luck. P.S. I was with my boyfriend and the server put his dinner on one bill and mine on another. He was so embarrassed and she was totally serious. You'll notice the servers are not hired for their brains or ability.

I love this place - the food is fresh, tasty and lots of variety. The bar is real cool and they make great martinis. I hear they now deliver in the North shore which I will definitely use on those snowy nights!

I went to a couple parties over the summer here and the outdoor area is awesome! There is nothing like it in Highland Park. Just had dinner there the other night in the tent and it was great. Great food and atmosphere. I would definetely check this place out!

Awesome Place

It's nice to finally have a "hip" bar and eating place in the Northshore. The food is fabulous -all fresh and very tasty. Great drinks and decent wine choices. The atmosphere is very cool. There are outdoor fire pits with couches but is was too cold when we were there. Great music inside and out. I understand there is live music some nights. Also, they have a private club - Highland Park After Dark. We got a tour of the place and it looks real cool. I highly recommend this place!
