Do not go to this restaurant if you are looking for any flexibility. We asked to swap out one item (my niece doesn't eat meat, so we asked for fruit). The answer was "no." Then we asked if they could cook the potatoes in oil, instead of butter, and the waitress assured us they could. When the plate arrived... no potatoes. "Oh, we can't do that." Then why did they tell us they could? So, we ended up with half entrees- because they wouldn't accommodate the simplest requests- but they still charged full price. I will not go back to this restaurant.

Always good. but I don't know why...
Maybe huge pasta portions- or tasty impromptu cocktail mixtures... A mysterious back door entrance to the Troor Door Theater - or well kept sidewalk patio... I know not what. But I do know I like it. Enough to come back again and again

I ate at Janes last Friday night and had a wonderful meal. Their house corn chowder is light and flavorful, and the vegetable risotto was outstanding. The menu is creative and fresh. I love that they have a lot of options for vegetarians. The chef served our food to us as well as other tables in the restaurant which I thought gave it a personal touch. A couple things that would have made my experience memorable: warm bread (it was cold and bland), and better wine selections.

Had reservations at 12 didn't sit until 12:30. 3 of us ordered the special, but they only had 2 left. Apparently, everything in this restaurant is "pre-made". When my friend began to cut the birthday cake we brought, the owner told us there was a $25 "cake fee". This is obviously ridiculous so I went to talk to the owner. She immediately raised her voice at me and spoke in an extremely condescending manner. I explained how so far we had to wait 30 minutes for reservation, couldn't order what we wanted, and that we had let the restaurant know our reservation was for a birthday. I said I would have gladly waited to eat the cake outside of the restaurant if I had known we would incur a $25 fee. I finally said, in this economy, are you really willing to piss off a group of people who live in this area? Because I will never come back to this restaurant and I'll tell everyone I know about my experience, as well as write a review. She said go ahead, you are still paying the $25!

I drive from the Gold Coast to eat at this spot at least once a month. The food is absolutely creative and delicious. The service is outstanding. The ambiance is laid-back, yet still somehow sophisticated. Simply stated, Jane's is perfection.

We ate at Jane's last evening and contrary to the previous posted review, our experience was amazing. The food was full of flavor and there was plenty of it. The menu was a nice change as it featured a variety of dishes including several vegetarian options. Our service was great and the ambiance was warm and festive. I would definitely recommend it!

I have been a longtime Jane's patron but will NEVER go back. They are going downhill fast! We had dinner there and they ruined our evening. The service was horrible, they were out of several wines and entrees and 2 of our 3 meals were tasteless. I STRONGLY recommend you do not go.

My friends and I normally love Jane's it's quaint and the food is always fresh...that is until last night. I ordered pick-up and the veggie burger and it was a mess, tasted frozen and looked like it was pieced together from several pre-made patties...gross.
And, they messed up the order and I had to drive back and the guy behind the bar made me feel bad for his mistake. Bad night? I hope so.

The ambience says it all: great neighborhood bistro. My wife and I go to Jane's several times per year and are never disappointed. Great atmosphere, great, personal service, and outstanding food at a reasonable value. Brunches are amazing too. Highly, highly recommended.

Food was pretty darn good. Value was average to below average. Service was terrible, especially considering we were the last ones there. I'm guessing waitress was in back smoking for the 45 minutes we waited for our food. I was thinking about doing a little scotch, but the offerings were terrible. They probably only had 25 total spirit items on their backbar. Don't plan on ordering a cocktail there. Nice ambiance. Would make a great date place.
