Devon Seafood Grill: User Reviews
Our party of six enjoyed our recent meal at Devon's Seafood Grill. We had a semi-private room downstairs (I think they seat up to 8 people). We enjoyed being able to hear everyone at the table without shouting. The food was excellent, the wait staff served us all at the same time (sounds easy but too many restaurants can't seem to pull this off). The menu is diverse enough so everyone can enjoy this gem, including non-seafood eaters. I had the pan sauteed chicken - it was delicious. We took advantage of the happy hour prices on wine (1/2 price for those priced $50 or below/not sure which hours or days exactly are happy hours). I would definitely come back to Devon!

What has dining become in America? I have been to restaurants like Devon all over the country: A semi-hip environment, an attempt at "contemporary" cuisine with a good-looking wait staff. What is original about this?
For its part, Devon's food is decent, if a bit overpriced for what it is. More importantly, accepting this kind of restauarant in Chicago is downright depressing. We should expect and deserve better in our worldclass city.

We dined with a party of 6 during the last week of February. Service was unbelievable! We did not lack ANYTHING!!! I got the Sea Bass with the lobster risotto. My husband got the seafood platter. Everyone in our party LOVED their food. I would highly recommend this place. While it is on the expensive side, I left with full stomach. The atmosphere was great as well. Lots of people enjoying a cocktail. Great vibe.

Awesome from beginning to end. The food and service are well above standard, without being snobby. The food takes center stage, as it should the shrimp scampi my wife describe as perfect with an interesting kick. The shrimp ravioli which was part of the "Resturant Week " special, was not only delish but the value of the week !!! Decor and ambiance are slick but not overbearing. The lower level host private, semi private areas plus "The Wine Cellar" ... WoW !!! We've found our new spot, hope to see you there !!!

My husband and I went to Devon's the weekend before Valentine's Day to celebrate. We were seated in the loud basement, which leaves much to be desired in terms of ambiance. Our table was near the hallway where the teenage servers giggle and chirp to one another on their way to and from the kitchen. Our server visited our table repeatedly to ask us how we were doing when we hadn't even ordered an appetizer yet. When asked about an item on the menu, her response began with "I'm really not sure, it's hard to explain..." There seemed to be servers dropping and breaking plates everywhere. The bus boy stalked our table to snatch our dishes miliseconds after we had finished our soups. One mediocre scallop appetizer and over-salted lobster bisque later, I was relieved when my husband whispered "would you like to leave and go somewhere else." There are too many outstanding restaurants in the city to settle for Devon's.

My family has been in the seafood industry for three generations and this is by far the best seafood I've had in Chicago, if not the Midwest!

This is the place to go if you're looking for a great selection of fresh seafood. It's tough to find a nice restaurant that isn't overpriced, so imagine my surprise when my partner and I walked into Devon's. The waitstaff was attentive, but not overbearing, and the food was wonderful. I was amazed the bill was only one hundred dollars for appetizer, entree, wine, and dessert. Highly recommend the crab cakes which are baked and ALL crab meat! Valet can take awhile though.

If you order a steak here, be sure you order one step down from what you really want. We got a strip medium rare and it was more medium at best. The flavor wasn't anything special. We also ordered the shrimp scampi pasta, which, also, was average. The drinks were good, and the atmosphere is nice and upscale. Just a nice, average place to dine if you ask me.

I've walked by this place ever since it was open, yet never ventured in-We decided to try it last night-We were suprised when we were seated and we got our own seculded table, very intimate and different-
Our waitress, Jeni S. was so great-She knew the menu and gave her honest opinions, from food to the wine-She was the perfect server-
I had the chilean sea bass on top of a bed of lobster risotto, in a chardonay wine sauce and my husband had the crab legs, we both had excellant meals, the sea bas was pricey, $32, but worth it for it wasn't fishy, it was nice and white and moist and cooked just perfect-
This is dumb but the table chairs looked a little banged up, and I would make the entire dining room area look like the bar area to continue the ambience-That would be my only suggestion-

Went there last weekend for a rehearsal dinner and it was fantastic! Service, food, atmosphere all great. No idea on the prices, but if someone else is paying, it's a good time!
