Cheesecake Factory
875 N. Michigan Ave. - Chicago312-337-1101
My boyfriend and I had been wanting to go to the cheesecake downtown for quite some time. We finally did it and it was, unfortunately a bad experience. The service was terrible. I waited almost an hour for my pasta and when I finally received it, I could literally use my fork to pick up the entire dish. It had sat under a heating lamp for who knows how long. On the other hand, the martini's we had were absolutely amazing..so props to the bartender.

I fall for it every single time.
It would all be better if the staff were nicer.
We need more restaurants in the gold coast.

We were in Chicago on Sunday visiting the Hancock Observatory and thought we would have lunch at The Cheesecake factory as it was in the same building.
The restaurant was fun and certainly very busy and the location could not be more perfect along Michigan Avenue.
Our disappointment was with the very poor food. Three out of our party of four did not enjoy their lunch at all. I had a salad and can honestly say it was the worst salad I have ever come across, it consisted of just lettuce a couple of small croutons and a dressing. It certainly didn’t hold my taste buds for long. Maybe we were all just unlucky and selected the wrong things off the menu, one thing I do know is that I certainly will not be returning. The food was well priced for Chicago so I guess you just get what you pay for…

Seating and food was prompt. Service was friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere, although a bit loud. Great location off of Michigan Ave. Lots of food for the money, which was quite good. Good luck saving room for cheesecake!

Yes, it is busy and yes it is chaotic, but there is a reason for it. The menu is bigger than any other restaurant I've ever seen, and I've dined all over the world. Interestingly enough, they are able to cook everything on the menu Perfectly! We have been to this place well over 30 times and have yet to have a bad meal...how many places can you say that about? Give it a try. The shrimp scampi and cashew chicken are excellent, and the fried calamarie are the best I've had anywhere.

Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes, often more, for a table. But this is a great place to take out of town visitors. It is also great for groups with varying tastes since the menu is huge. A good place for families. It is busy, but the food is good and the portions are large. The Oreo cheesecake is to die for, as are the chips with spinach dip. The place has something for everyone.

Went there in May 2007, Seating was quick, they were stroller friendly, order was taken promptly however entree took an awful long time to come out ---when I finally got the check I saw the server had taken off Fish tacos and charged for the chicken I had ordered-- guess that is why I waited so long because she pushed the wrong button and did not tell me...otherwise it was good, large portions and loud atmosphere.
Report This ReviewThe hostesses do NOT have this system down to a fine science for the hundreds of visitors. Way too much confusion on 'where' do you find the hostess station? Everyone is in a hallway like sardines waiting for the annoying buzzer to go off. The wait is too long, and the place is too noisy, the kitchen help is screaming orders, and the whole place is about as relaxing as swimming the Atlantic.
Report This ReviewI have lived in Chicago for 15 years and had never been here before. Went on 4-5-07 (Thursday night). The wait for a table was supposed to be 20 minutes - turned into one hour. Food was mediocre at best. Had not missed much in previous 15 years.
Report This ReviewWent there on a Saturday night. I was told the wait would be 45-60 minutes for outdoor seating and was seated within 15. David, our waiter was very nice and very attentive. It was busy, because it was a Saturday night, but I felt he did a great job. It started raining while we were outside and management did a great job getting us a table inside. I ordered the grilled porkchop which was good. The side of spinach which came with it was alittle bitter however. Oreo cheesecake was also delicous.
