Chaise Lounge: User Reviews
Chaise Lounge's clubby ambiance is enhanced by ceiling to floor curtains, live DJ booth and updatstairs cabanas 'Casablanca' style. The outdoor patio is small but well appointed with umbrellas and heating lamps, the inside on the main floor is split into two areas, bar and restaurant. On my visit, late one Saturday at around 11 pm, I found that most of the restaurant area does not seem to function as such any longer and is overtaken by the bar patrons, sitting on tables and drinking. It does not seem very welcoming to dine at a late time as the atmosphere becomes a bit chaotic, crowded and very loud. The upstairs lounge as well as the patio close at midnight due to ordinance so the main floor becomes even more crowded after that. The drinks that we ordered, a Cosmo and a Mojito, were very mediocre, diluted and expensive. The DJ did a good job and the music fit my expectations. I would suggest going earlier in the evening and getting a cabana updstairs and hope that the next bartender does a better job with the drinks.

I went here with friends for drinks and dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The tapas like menu was quite tasty as were the drinks. It ended up being pretty affordable considering the upscale cuisine when we all shared a couple plates of the smaller bites. The atmosphere was cool and it ended up being a really fun night. We go to sit outside on this particular night and it was one of the those untouchable nights in the city.

I went to Chaise Lounge on a Friday night because of the great review it received by the Tribune. I was very disappointed. Although the ambiance of the restaurant is great, the services was poor. We went with the intention of hanging out after dinner to have a few drinks, but that didn't happen. Our waitress was not very attentive, even though it was early in the evening and the place was not very crowded. It almost felt as if she was rushing us out. She did not ask us if we wanted any more drinks and promptly brought us our check after taking our plate. The food was tasty, it's a shame the poor service ruined our experience at Chaise Louge!

First off, I love crab cakes, and Chaise has the most delicious crab cakes I have ever tasted. This restaurant has the best atmosphere and to top it off, all of their food has an amazing flavor. The chef really knows how to put a flavorful spin on all of their prime menu options. I am not a big fish eater and the mahi mahi was phenomenal. Really, for the quality of food, you really are getting a deal for the prices. The special drink menu here is also great, there are so many options- the perfect night out for my girlfriends and I. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to go back in the summer!

My buddy and I met some girls at this hot spot Saturday. They wouldn’t shut up about one of their “foo-foo” martinis, I passed. Around 12 the bar became overly crowded. Come to find out the rooftop closes at midnight, so everybody crams downstairs. I’ll go back, but I think I’ll lose the chicks next time. This place was jumping with hot girls!
Report This ReviewI visited when they first opened and was not impressed with the food in the least bit. My friend and I were walking by on Monday and spotted an open table in the upper area, when on weekends it's always packed. We decided to stop for a drink while we discussed where to have dinner and unexpectedly decided to stay. Our server explained there is a new chef and suggested that we give it a second chance. We shared the crab cakes, by far the best I've had in the city. She had the halibut, light and delicious, and I went for the short ribs... amazing! For dessert we split the blueberry cobbler, which I also recommend. My only complaint was the weather, but when the storm hit, the server already had a table ready for us. Give this place another chance!!! The chef knows what he is doing. I will definitely be back. Nice work Chaise Lounge.
Report This ReviewI cannot emphasize how obnoxious this place is. I have given them a couple of shots, but the people running this place are total jerks. Blank stares from the "hostess" when you ask to sit upstairs, demands that you call back when you try to make a reservation (instead of the place calling you), and no one answers the phone when you do try to call back. The food is wildly inconsistent -- some good, some awful. Don't support a place that treats its customers so badly.
Report This Reviewfile under really? seriously? so we had had dinner here recently and really enjoyed it, good service and nice atmosphere and food --- so thought we would try it again...arrived at about 6pm (early for saturday evening) and requested a table inside -- all were empty, and were told to wait for the "hostess" -- hostess arrived and her attitude was surly at best -- we were told "You can sit here (at bar) or outside" -- but nothing in the dining room, really? asked how long until we could sit in dining room and got a blank stare --- the icing on the cake was when we passed by after having dinner elsewhere and the tables were still mostly empty in the dining room....pluhhease, scrap the attitude. we won't be back.
Report This ReviewWe decided to try Chaise Lounge about a week ago for a friend's birthday and couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment we arrived, every staff member from the hostess to the bartender made us feel more than welcome. We started off with a drink at the bar (the martinis were delicious) and talked with the bartender who was very attentive. Fans of "The Real Housewives of NYC" will appreciate this - I ordered a Patron Silver with a splash of Cointreau and fresh lime juice (otherwise known as a 'skinny girl's margarita') and before I could finish describing the drink, the bartender knew exactly what I was talking about (rare, b/c I've yet to encounter anyone who actually knows the drink and can make it well!)
The atmosphere was perfect - it was a nice night and we had a table right next to the window. The waitress was extremely nice (so nice that you almost think it's strange). Sad that we think that way, but we're all too familiar with bad service. Since it was a 'birthday' dinner, we asked the waitress to take a picture of our group, not knowing that the batteries in the camera were dead! Without hesitation, the waitress said she'd check in back to see if they had any batteries. She came back to our table (sans batteries) and informed us that since she couldn't find batteries, the manager had gone next door to find some. Talk about good service!
I realize I've yet to mention the food - which was delicious!
Needless to say, I'll be back...and often!
Report This ReviewI finally tried Chaise yesterday for the first time. I am always wary of known "dead spots" the footprints and buildings we have seen restaurants and bars open and close at over the years. I was nicely suprised however. The host staff was friendly and was kind enough to seat us at a 4 top on a Saturday ( party of 2.) Our waiter Alex, I believe ,was attentive and knowledgable w/out pretense. I ordered the slow cooked pork app, the beet salad and the filet. The app was well portioned. The sauces used to plate it could have been a bit more abundant. A bit more sweet to compliment the savory but otherwise delicious. The salad was a winner! At a time when the cost of produce being so high their arugula was fresh and crisp. The beets were as close to perfect one can imagine and the dressing complimented but didn't overpower the flavors of the greens themselves. My filet came out overdone. After spending many hot Saturdays on the grill in kitchens in Chicago; I am more than aware this happens sometimes. My waiter noticed right away and had it refired for me. The second filet came out great. The GM came over with appologies, much appreciated. The potatoes are fantastic that accompany the filet . I was impressed with the level of service that was provided and the quality of the food. The decor is subtle and fresh. Much different than all the new trendy spots to hit these parts of the recent years. I hope to be back soon.
