A working fireplace serves as the toasty focal point of this classy College Avenue-area restaurant serving contemporary American cuisine. Regulars go straight for the bacon-wrapped scallops, herb-crusted Great Lakes whitefish, braised beef short ribs and the decadent coconut-milk rice pudding with grilled pinneapple. A martini list with 30-plus choices was introduced in spring 2006, and the bar also serves up local brews from Two Brothers in Warrenville. Enjoy music three out of four Thursday evenings a month; the remaining Thursday is reserved for a prix-fixe wine dinner, featuring chef's choices paired with wine of a particular region, theme or winery.
