Eclectic restaurant
By Eddie from Lincoln Park, October 3, 2009

Overall rating:
5

This is a great place to go for eclectic dishes such as wild game and different takes on American classics. Service is always great and the food is very well done. It can be a little pricey, but you get a lot of food for the money and it's a great place to get dishes that you'd normally only find in restaurants closer to Chicago.

I used to love this restaurant, but when I go now it feels like I'm having to pull in my chair for people with canes and walkers all the time. Also, I think their food has slipped over the last couple years. I won't be going back.

We just returned from our third dining experience at this far-flung spot. Overall, it's easily the equal of some of the finer restaurants in the city. Gracious (and friendly)service, inventive dishes that are well-prepared, and reasonable (albeit not bargain) prices. This place is well worth the trip!

I took my husband out for dinner one night, not telling him where we were going. When we pulled into the parking lot, he said "Oh, this place????" Because the building is in the shape of a Kentucky Fried Chicken, he just assumed that it was a funky diner. How great it was then to walk in and see the oak bar and linen tableclothes! We were also impressed with the extensive wine list. We got a $30 bottle of Pinot Grigio, and it was excellent. My husband is a big meat eater, and loved the porterhouse steak they offered that night. The special the night we went that I got was a lobster tail with lump crab meat on top in a scotch bonnet bernais sauce. It was spicy and amazingly delicious! I would thoroughly recommend that dish. Our server had worked there for 12 years and was very knowledgable and friendly. We are going back for the tapas night. Every Thursday night (the first Thursday of the month being vegetarian), they offer a 6 course tapas meal for a flat fee of $25.50. Add 5 wines, and the fee is $40.00. We plan to go back in the next few weeks. This is a great find in the Northwest Suburbs, and would rival any downtown establishment anytime. Four stars!!
