This franchised distribution office is one of 53 in greater Chicago that serves up low-fat, low-calorie meals developed by Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating for pickup or delivery. Grandmother and registered nurse Seattle Sutton (that's really her name) runs the Ottawa-based headquarters, cooking meals for anyone short on time and motivation but concerned about calories, fat, cholesterol and sodium content. The program delivers 21 fresh meals twice a week to homes and offices, with the option of 1,200- or 2,000-calorie meal plans at $93 or $108 per week. Breakfasts include pancakes with blueberries and orange apple strudel; lunches consist of dishes such as mushroom-crust quiche and Hawaiian chicken. Dinners include turkey parmesan, baked fish almondine and kase knepfla, adapted from a German noodle dish. "We want to improve people's eating habits--that's our goal with every customer," Sutton explains. "That's why I started this business--to help diabetics, people wanting to lower their cholesterol or just lose weight." To find the nearest distributor, call 1-800-442-DIET.
