Shine
- Neighborhood: Lincoln Park
- 756 W. Webster Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60614
- 773-296-0101
- Price range: $$ ($9-$15)
Sister spot to Southport Avenue's Rise, this Lincoln Park restaurant offers familiar Chinese dishes (Szechwan, Mandarin and Hunan), as well as sushi and a few other Japanese selections such as tempura and teriyaki. Chinese offerings range from the usual Kung Pao- and General Tso-type options to more interesting Americanized takes on Chinese flavors, including the Hong Kong-style steak (ribeye with sweet potato puree, haricots verts, carrots, shiitakes and a crisp wonton, served with oyster soy sauce). Look for minimalist lines and understated decor in the dining room, with inverted Chinese umbrellas hanging from the ceilings as whimsical light fixtures.
